XboxEra Community Hangout |OT13| New News? NEW THREAD

When I press A on a game tile it now opens a new window with info and what not, usually it would just boot the game up. It’s not terrible, but nor is it something I truly want, lol. Can you disable this?

You need to check the menus/settingd to disable/set it to the X button. Otherwise you need to press X to start the game.

Ooooh, I see. That’s kinda cool. I like the idea of that. Let’s first see if I can adjust quickly to pressing X before I disable it.

I’ve had this for a few weeks now. (Might be a gradual rollout?)

When the overview opens, “play” is the default option. So I’ve basically already gotten used to just pressing “A” twice. Hadn’t even noticed the X option. :see_no_evil_monkey:

Looks like marketing is getting started.

Not quite sure what I think of the Game Hub yet. In practice, I don’t hate it, I actually think the hub screen itself is kind of neat.

I do think they probably should have put it on the X button by default and kept A as the button that starts the game by default.

I can’t help but think that Xbox introduced this new thing which is actually kind of neat but did it in a way that will invite trashing from the media and gamers that will spin everything in the worst possible way. Make it sound like it’s impossible to start games with one button now and act like it can’t be changed. We all know by now that the media does not give Xbox the benefit of the doubt. This will be spun into a big catastrophe and it just seems very unnecessary.

I’ll be honest, if having to press another button to start a game counts as a catastrophe for someone, that person is a loser and should be ignored. I get being frustrated and annoyed by things, but the way people react to every tiny thing just seems so unhealthy to me.

Bit of a wild rumor, but supposedly this site previously got TH3+4 and Deadpool VR game rumors. But it being just Meta Quest with xCloud Starter pack (GPU+Controller), it doesn’t sound too unbelievable.

EDIT: Pictures of the box are out, expected announcement next week.

Seems to be the limited edition mentioned here: https://www.meta.com/en-gb/blog/meta-horizon-os-open-hardware-ecosystem-asus-republic-gamers-lenovo-xbox/

So Stranger than Heaven might actually be a 2026 game, I like that!

I saw in the Xbox store that there’s a discount on the preorder. It’s cool beans, but I don’t preorder.

Xbox dead am I right.

Yes, you can disable it. Go to the personalization option in your settings menu. I forgot what the actual name is of the new option but you’ll see it. There will be an option to de-select (turn off) three options regarding what you’re seeing which is the Game Hub.

I turned them off, let the tiles on the dashboard small, set to 9 and best of all, turned off non-game apps like Accessories from appearing as a tile as that has always annoyed the hell out of me.

This seems more like of a marketing stuff

Xbox or Xbox PC does not have VR games. So what is the point?

Marketing is the only point here I suppose.

So if you buy this it works with the console or is it just Xbox branded? I don’t know a whole lot about VR, but PSVR2 doesn’t work without the PS5, right? I wonder if a game like Half Life Alyx will work on it.

Most likely standalone just like the normal Quest, just has the app for Xbox cloud streaming.

No Alyx isn’t on the Meta store, you’d need to hook it up to a PC running Steam VR to play it - who knows, could be possible on the next gen Xbox if it’s more PC

I’m no VR guy but that looks nice. Simple change to black and it looks great. That’s just me.

I wonder if there is a Oculus 3 version. While the 3S is a nice entry point for those who want to get into VR, the use of the Fresnel lenses is enough reason to avoid it.

Anything to get the word out about Xbox is cool with me!
