Of course it’s nice to not have ads. But I don’t understand this logic. Ultimate subscribers shouldn’t have ads, but people who pay €80 per game should?

Anyway, like you said, the ads are barely noticeable. It’s hardly a big deal.

Still playing Doom: The Dark Ages. Was playing on easy but started over yesterday on ultra violence (hard) with modified settings. On chapter 10. Have completed every chapter 100%. The only chapter I had to go back into was chapter 5 as I missed two things but thankfully, it only took me 45 minutes to go through the objectives and get the two things I missed.

As for the game itself, im loving it. I played and completed Doom 2016 (8.0/10 for me overall) and dropped Eternal after maybe 30 minutes as I just wasn’t into it at all. But The Dark Ages is fucking great because it has so many different gameplay elements, mechs, dragons (both of which I like a lot and am enjoying), all the various weapons shooting and melee wise but then you add in the shield which can be thrown at enemies, get stuck in enemies, used for mini-puzzles to get to other areas and most of all, you have a parry mechanic which is really good and satisfying (I have it set at 2 out of 5 bars to make it challenging). I’m loving the game so much that I was at chapter 8 on easy just breezing through it but then I started getting all the collectibles and stuff so I decided to start over. Now, im doing 100% completion on every chapter and loving the game.

Will get back to playing tomorrow. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

I would say for the same reason we can do any personalisation.

Why do they bother developing dynamic backgrounds if nobody stops to look at their home screen?

That cleaner look is much more enticing and allows you to see your wallpaper properly.

I think the better question is why do paying subscribers need to see them? They don’t add any value.

For us…!

What’s up with returning kids series landing elsewhere that used to be on Max due to WB properties or something else? I guess their saving grace at the moment is the movies.

David Zaslav.

He doesn’t see the value in children shows, so he directed divisions to not renew licenses and to sell licenses to other platforms.

I’m in the middle. I think you, generally should be able to customize your home screen how you like, if that means turning off the second row, so be it.

But I also think the application of the term ā€œadā€ is a bit disingenuous. Your game console, directing you towards new titles, game pass games, or sales, to find games to play on your system that plays games as its primary funciton seems fairly reasonable to me. General users are not locked in to release schedules like terminally online gaming message board users. Letting them know that the new Doom has released in a small square seems fine to me.

If it was Taco Bell Chicken Chalupa ads, or a Capital One ad, I would feel differently.

So excited to relive the ā€œgrave dancingā€ discourse about how Concord failed because of the big bad media, not because it was a game that no one asked for nor wanted.

Quick pivot from Paul after he started up a podcast around the game.

LOL really? I get it though, he’s the Destiny guy so he probably wanted to like Marathon too. Like Mass Effect and Dragon Age fans were rooting for Anthem.

I don’t want to give clicks to this clickbait but it could be said to a lot of games as a service these past few years.

What would be more interesting to talk about, while still making a point about Marathon, is how traditional MP, like team deatmatch or capture the flag, is dying (besides a few exceptions). Now, it’s all about keeping people playing as long as possible and sell Battle Passes and skins, and Battle Royale was the prototype for that. Extraction shooters is an evolution of that formula with caveats.

Bungie with Marathon is trying to do both an extraction shooter while keeping the traditional MP flair they are known for. I don’t see that working for them, especially with the last controversy about design templates theft.

I don’t wish ill will on anything, but so far, it’s heading to the crash and burn scenario.

Is eXtas1s (still) considered to be a good source? Because I saw a forum post with lots of info from his sources regarding Xbox next gen. It’s a video, and I’ll post the summary too.

I’m pretty sure these are all things Tom Warren has been talking about.

He did give us some correct stuff in the past though, didn’t he? I don’t follow rumors or leaks much anymore, but I recall his name.

I’d argue it doesn’t offer value for them either (most of the time).

They’ve already got our subscription money, therefore what value does advertising Doom DA on the home screen give them when it has no in game purchases?

Especially if that player you’re advertising it too is already playing Doom DA..

He’s reliable when it comes to game pass drops, I do think that this new video is likely him talking about the rumors that Tom Warren has been talking about.

He had a good run on Game Pass games last year, obviously saw some internal document that gave him a few months. Since then? Hardly anything, and most of his ā€œreportingā€ is just saying what others heard, but it’s in Spanish so people use google translate and think it’s his.
