Thanks for the link but Iām sorry, I should have been clearer. I meant the lists where all the users here listed their top ten and it was supposed to be tallied and then posted? I know you guys posted in previous years and donāt remember seeing it last year.
I remember watching them all but Nicks.
Fools and their money being easily parted has happened before in gaming - and there are many rip offs like Star Citizen or Tarkovās ever-increasing bundle prices, but I wonder if a CEO has once stopped to consider the dangers of NFTs or huge pay-to-win games if things go wrong?
The below is funny in many respects (idiots deserve to have a bad time for encouraging this NFT crap) but have the CEOs considered how people with millions to waste on digital tat may bury them in lawsuits when they lose money (particularly once the publisher sells all the NFTs and the transaction fees arenāt enough so they release more or close the game) or worse.
For example if they live in a country with no extradition treaty, someone with $26m to blow on an NFT might take out a hit or other forms of intimidation against staff (unfortunately probably the developers and not the CEO whoād at least deserve it more) - or someone who stupidly invests all their money in one loses it so tries to shoot up the developer.
I actually love Ubisoft games (I like big open worlds, particularly historical ones) but their CEO and any others that do this shit deserve to rot for it and the risks theyāve now created for their poor employeesā¦
(Or in this case for other players - the two who via a bug became unbeatable may have ended up being targeted despite being innocent!)
As always Sparda3g, appreciate the sharing of news on here even though itās not always positive or well received. Always good to be aware.
AI could be an incredible thing for games but, ironically, everything weāve seen so far lacks imagination.
In Forza, Iād like to ask my pit crew if the racer in 3 spots front of me went in for an early tire change because it started to rain in the race.
Iād like an AI to analyze the racing habits of real Forza players and not only create accurate drivatar representations, but highly realistic AI to play against in single player. Same with Halo and Killer Instinct, Iād like to play against AI representations of my friends.
Iād like a computer character in Starfield that is an AI powered by Copilot that has its own backstory that I can explore with voice chat instead of prompts. Perhaps can be found in the computing middle of space ships and give people a reason to include those on their ships. Someone that can hint at relevant side quests after scanning my save file and hint at interesting planets Iāve yet to explore, or tell me where I should land to farm certain minerals/materials.
I wish AI in sports games like hockey would analyze players as they play and come up with their ratings based on that. I wish they would look at how teams were coached and where players positions themselves so that when youāre playing a certain team they play like they do in real life.
Instead we get a chatbot lol
That said, Iām sure Xbox studios are working on implementations in their games. But if they want people excited, or to sell developers on using MS AI services in their games, they would have been better served in a video showing some WIP implementations.
Those are all really great ideas, think it will be awhile for game implementations.
Chatbot is low hanging fruit, but it likely gets investor buy in for the gaming div. So its all good.
Great point! If itās enough to help prevent studio shutdowns and game cancellations, Iām all for it. As silly as it sounds, youāre right about it placating and even exciting investors.
The other problem to solve with implementations of Ai in games is power usage⦠So if your game is a hit⦠You better get ready to pony up loads of money for little to no return⦠Or expect a even more ways to monitize your game⦠Remember alot of Ai implementations are free now to get you used to them⦠Once investors start knocking they will have a fee as well.
Ai instances for games will probably mean just another feature that goes offline in a few years and your game now has missing content.
Itās got alot of hurdles to jump to make it viable for consumers and even more for investors and game studios
My personal pet peeve with God of War is how in cut scenes Kratos can jump hundreds of feet, but in game play is anchored to the ground - UNLESS you are on one of the predetermined āplatformingā spots. I canāt count the number of times a chest or collectible is in clear view and you should be able to reach if you could only jump a foot or so, but no diceā¦
This is great - but I wonder what the average sales price is. That game has had crazy deep discounts for years - selling for $2.99 or something on a pretty regular basis. I have personally bought it on three different platforms - and still never even launched it⦠(It is on my list to play soon though!)
10/10, makes you a better dad.
I see Like a Dragon Ishin and Gaiden are leaving gamepass. I highly recommend people to play those games. I should start lies of p soon because I have a feeling it leaves gamepass in a month or 2
Did anyone actually want a 40 hour Lego Horizon game?
Yeah I probably wouldnāt expect much in games until the systems have NPUs in them and they can be run locally on the system.
100% I find the pacing infuriating. As you say one moment your jumping all over the place (with button prompts) and picking up huge boulders with ease.
Next minute your walking along like an old grandad which canāt pass a simple bush.

Donāt you mean āDid anyone actually want a Lego Horizon game?ā
Isnāt Horizon too adult for the kiddies and Lego Horizon too kiddy for the adults?
