XboxEra Community Hangout |OT12| The Dirty Dozen

Hopefully their customers update their security.

Epic Games keeps getting hacked is why it will never dethroned Steam.

He said he believes it will be the last piece of under the television hardware from them. Aside from the handheld that will be dockable. He believes it’s their last stand completely. Bad decisions, bad hardware choices, bad moves put this billion dollar company on the brink.

They have their back up against the wall, no first party games this year, what is left in the chamber? These are hard questions that the consumer must ask themselves. What happens to your digital library? What happens to your digital self? He says he never trusted their infrastructure, how this leads to understanding why there were hacks and breaches. The lack of funding took money away from certain areas.

It should be interesting to see how Sony overcomes this, but I think they will. No first party this year is true, but still strong offerings nonetheless with Helldivers 2, Ronin, Stellar Blade, FF7R Rebirth etc.

Probably too much hardware especially if Xbox really is aiming for new console in 26.

Ah I see! As @Haven mentioned below they have released alot of hardware this gen. There’s been 3 revisions of PS5, PSVR2 (which seemingly has failed) and PS Portal. PS5 Pro is yet another project which will have eaten a lot of R&D costs, if it doesn’t sell very well then it will likely have a big financial impact on them too.

Will it be their last console? I very much doubt that. I suspect PS6 is already deep in prototype with contracts signed with various manufacturers/suppliers such as AMD. Although I think their first party lineup is awful they have like 8 studios due to release a game on that 5 year timescale, I think they will continue to struggle this year but will be fine overall.

The PS5 Pro is a means to fleece their existing customers. You aren’t drawing in new users with a high-priced high-power box. They likely won’t be taking a loss on the box because the enthusiast base that will pay for it will buy it regardless. They know it will be a low volume device the same as the PS4 Pro.

This is where I would point back to Phil’s comments about either needing to broaden your audience or you have to squeeze your existing one.

They might draw in new users tangentially via the cast-off normal PS5s. Some will hang on to them, but for everyone that gets rid of their original console there’s a chance it could end up in the hands of a new user.

Is it enough to cause a significant influx of new customers for Sony? Maybe, maybe not. But it’s bound to have some effect.

HOLD THE LINE :phil_lmao:

Vets getting a bag to lead a new studio with Chinese funding seems to be the play nowadays

I think it’s a mistake tbh, I just think it doesn’t make much sense

 Can’t say I’m familiar with this show. Has anyone here watched a previous iteration? Was it worthwhile?

This. I personally would prefer Sony to release PlayStation 6 sooner and skip the PlayStation 5 Pro but it is what it is.

I watched every one since 2020. I maybe get a few games out of their shows but are usually already announced and known titles.

Guessing it will be part of the future games show case on the 21.

I suspect Nextgen will be very different. For the first time Xbox path and direction is very different from Sony and Nintendo and will likely impact the design of their console. I don’t think the PS6 will be similar in any way to the next Xbox, and I don’t think they will be using the same chip manufacturers. I think the days of consoles ending are fast coming, they are becoming a little too expensive and entering into the premium range also if Microsoft kicks off with their everywhere campaign it is sure to hit console sales. Xbox has partnered with many companies for games that will be pushing their games. A game like COD and Indiana Jones is sure to get the marketing for Samsung for their Samsung gaming TV’s maybe LG will join. Then you will have the handhelds taken advantage of this to sell as many as they can. Let’s not forget the streaming services like Nvidia and many that will open to use this and of course Ubisoft will have a field day selling ABK licenses there is also a good chance these games could release on the android Xbox app for phones since the Switch will be getting it. In short there is going to be a big push for Xbox games making money and getting Game Pass subs on as many devices as possible. If a lot turn to these other forms of gaming the consoles will dip certainly a big problem for Sony and a PS5 Pro.

He don’t want to piss off announcers. He’s basically payed by these studios that had layoffs. He’s part of the industry. I don’t want to defend him, but he can’t talk about it as freely as he would want. Would he speak about it if his hands were free is still a question though…
