XboxEra Community Hangout |OT12| The Dirty Dozen

totally agree with this

What’s the other one?

Dynacat there was an article on the site about 4 days ago. Edit: I guess on its way to release, not already released.

So I hear you guys talk about Deus Ex so much but have never played it. Is one if the more recent-ish games worth playing? I don’t have it in me to go back to PS2 level, though maybe that’s more tolerable on PC…

Man, XboxEra Podcast is on fire. Nick is on vengeance path for Switch to defeat PS2 for killing Dreamcast. lol. I guess he should be happy for Switch to remain one more year.

Start with Human Revolution. Still a stellar immersive sim.

Im with you. I only played re2 twice

Re3 i beat 5 times Re4 im at 10 Seperate ways i beat 7 times.

Its just more fun to replay. Re2 is a better game than re3 and i enjoyed re2 mroe first time…but i enjoyed replaying re3 more.

Re4 is the best of the lot.

I was dumbfounded when people last year were shocked re4 got a goty nomination…yeah no shit it was a fucking brilliant game

Nick must not have owned a ps2 post 2004.

I agree 2000 to 2004 ps2 was an overrated broken piece of plastic…gc and xbox were better imo in that time frame

But…and ill say this right now…mid 2004 till the end of the consoles life in 2008(ending with persona 4) ps2 was legit the best console of all time. The amount of games and high quality exclusives it had was fucking insane. Mind you the gc and xbox were completely dead and irrelevant by then too.

Those 4 to 5 years all i played was ps2 and 360.

And if nick reads this…dude look at the ps2 library library after that…all exclusives at the time…

God of war 1 and 2 Dmc3 FF12 Kingdom heart 2 Persona 3 Persona 4 Suikoden V Tales of the Abyss God Hand Shadow of the Colossus Tekken 5 Soul Calibur 3 Metal Gear Solid 3

I cant even remember a single ps2 game i beat before thst outside of dark cloud and jak and daxter. Not saying it didnt have games…but i was fsr too focused on my OG xbox and Gamecube.

I don’t think anyone are surprised in terms of it’s quality, some people just disagree that remakes should be a part of GOTY conversations regardless of quality

But it was a full on remake effectively making it a new game.

Hence why TLOU1 remake won fuck all the previous year despite it still being a great game…because it was thr EXACT same game. Same with dead space 1 remake. These games should never be considered.

1:1 remakes and remasters i agree

Thats why metroid Prime wasnt. Goty nom…despite it still being one of the greatest video games to ever exist.

BUT full on remakes absolutrly should be considered. Otherwise youre being disingenous to the people who made those gsmes

Re4 has

New areas with many different locations and open area segments Completely overhauled combat system Completely different story structure New bosses New enemies Overhaul in thr gsmeplay design/interface and obviously graphics

The only things it has in common with the original is the story/characters and the actual names of the locations.

Only a handful of areas in the game have the same level layout as the original

I think ps1 had more great games than ps1. I played ps2 until i got an xbox and mained that with some gamecube and ps2 evey once in a while

I’m in my own Twitter bubble and sometimes forget how anti ā€œAIā€ some people can be…

Anyway the comments here inspired me to make this post :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I can’t wait for the AI future. Things are happening so fast. It’s amazing to me.

As someone who also didn’t like Mr X/Nemesis in the remakes, give Amnesia The Bunker a shot, that game explores the concept of an unkillable monster in a horror game much much better. It should be on Game Pass until May/June at the very least.

I did! I liked it and it surprised me, definitely unlike the other Amnesia games I tried. The setting and atmosphere were brilliant, it was tight, well structured and didn’t overstay its welcome, it was like Alien Isolation but without the bloat and length. I also quite appreciated how it had some immersive sim like problem solving.

You already played it, nice. :ok_hand: I also liked it more than the first Amnesia (the only one I’d played)

What Jessie was saying about the dual sense and hurting hands I was like YES. Its not just me.

Still not seeing it. Been playing since my backlog got too big, still don’t see the fascination. I mean it’s nice but it’s not like if I play without it, I will lose my mind.

ya my thumbs always hurt after playing ps5 but with the xbox controllers im fine. i have big hands. I googled it and its not just me

Love it here and the crew but the Starfield article drama / recent podcast discussion has left me feeling a bit iffy, wasn’t a huge fan of what was said on the podcast as it felt super defensive and pushing the blame of why it didn’t happen elsewhere. It didn’t really need a source to come to the conclusion if they’re putting 1 game on other platforms they would’ve looked at every title.

The only way I really get why this was all done was if something like Matt Booty or Phil (has to be someone high up to be reliable for something like this) actually emailed you info to post to cause an issue and even if that was the case we’ll never know obviously so you have to understand why people are thinking like this without having all the information you seemingly have.

I hate when the discussion is about business stuff because people don’t understand it and think their way is better or know better than Microsoft or anyone in the business. There are so many factors that we don’t know about and things we do know about that we can’t have the full picture.

Again no hard feelings, still love ya.

I have large hands, and that thing cramps me quickly. 30 minutes and I feel it.
