Same here. I see the names on Twitter and I’m like, ok, whatever. I don’t care for it. But sometimes my nephew asks me what I think of this and that streamer, such as IshowSpeed. Watched some stuff and I find him annoying, loud, very loud and his reactions don’t seem genuine to me. The other day I found out he was visiting my country and his fans went berserk over it, as if a super duper mega famous celebrity had entered the country. Oh and on Twitter i saw a clip of him barking like a complete idiot to a small dog, he got way too close to the dog and the dog bit him in the nose. And then acting surprised, bruh. Fuck around, find out, right?
So basically by being loud, obnoxious, annoying, not genuine he managed to become rich as hell. I think that describes a whole lot of these streamers, lmao. I find it sad.
As for Mr Beast, my nephew told me that he actually did quite a few commendable things for those in need. Which is always a good thing of course.
I think I only found out about Kai Cenat when he causes a riot in time square giving away PS5s haha. But now I hear about him much more often because parts of the hip hop community engage with him.
Yep in the UK we had a guy who’s getting close to being sent to prison as he keeps doing stunts for his YouTube (or whatever platform he uses) where for example he went into stranger’s houses and sat down on the sofa with them - then after court for that immediately went online and said stuff about the judge etc. while the trial was still ongoing.
Unlike the US with Trump, our judges don’t fuck about with such things - so he’s banned from social media, from some areas of his city etc. and if he breaches any of it he’s going to prison. I got bored of the coverage so for all I know, he’s already inside…
As for Mr Beast, I think my young cousin used to like him but when discussing with his parents they pointed out he does these “commendable” things but makes way more money from people viewing the videos, and often the recipient has to be in his video to get the money - and often do press too.
It used to be if you gave to charity, it was done discreetly with just the warm satisfaction of knowing you were trying to help others - nowadays, both “celebrities” and influencers (in particular) seem to want to share the worst details of someone’s misfortune, be recognised as a saviour for helping them and use their suffering (and the easement from it) to increase their fame further via videos and PR…

This has been going on for a long time too. You got a few cool, calm folks like Hollow. When he plays a horror game his reaction absolutely seems genuine and he doesn’t act ridiculous or super exeggerated but it’s just a few like that. So many of these fake ones with clickbait titles and thumbs, not to mention the content itself.
Time is too precious to be spending it on clowns anyway.

Agreed about what you said regarding Mr Beast, I guess it was to be expected. It probably shouldn’t even shock me. I believe he has cookies now too, saw them the other day in one of my supermarkets, lmao. Speaking of cookies, I remember the whole nonsense with Pokimane and her crazy overpriced cookies and I believe she even stole the whole recipe or some shit. And she also went on to insult her fans, nice.

Exactly how I feel about it as well. I’m honestly happy and content that I don’t know most of these clowns and if not for news stories about them when they do absurdly stupid things, I never would.
So, besides here, where else do you guys hangout at to talk games? I don’t use Twitter anymore (for obvious reasons), Threads is just too small for general game talk, Reddit is good but fragmented. I have started using this new app called Fuze (see my bio) but, since it is so new, it is kind of a ghost town right now .
At times Neogaf when I have a question about something that I know they’ll probably answer, always making it a case to avoid trash threads. A Dutch tech forum called Tweakers mostly in the Xbox thread. Like you said, Reddit just now and then for stuff and when I see some cool, normal tweets I like or reply to that as well on Twitter. Sometimes I react to comments on YouTube gaming videos too.
