This is a silly take imo.
Thatâs not how it works, though. You review what you get and not what you want.
Why? Itâs the same situation for all three games at its core.
I donât disagree with you that things arenât being reviewed for what they are anymore, but for what they arenât. Just saying thatâs where discourse comes from is more about expectations and legacy, and itâs understandable in the case of why SS would be so much more crucified than those two games with no specific or high prior expectations, studio legacy or IP attachment.
Regardless of the games quality or expectations, the fact that none got early review copies and only one got multiple days of negative coverage for it is not a good look. Either complain about not getting a review code for all or for none. You canât have both.
For the love of everyone please be smaller than Valhalla.
Pretty much yeah.
Thatâs not the job of the media, though. Theyâre not supposed to be fans of something to the point that it interferes with their coverage. Helldivers 1 was 9 years ago and now 2 hits with no review codes and a busted launch. Shit deserves equal footing and we canât just be ok with it when its not given that.

I admit, I did get heated up here because it almost sounded like some of you were defensive. I get it. Microsoft is the target, but that doesnât grant free pass for other company to pull a crappy move.
In an ideal world perhaps but I donât see it ever changing. This sort of stuff has been happening in gaming for since as long as I can remember.
Yep I hope this is a smaller scope and a new formula.
Ah damn, was hoping it was still planned for later this year.
Ah well, itâll give me time to finish Origins and Oddysey.
SSKTJL wasnât a Sony game. I think that really is most of the reason why. I get that people had expectations for a Rocksteady game and itâs infinitely more high profile than Helldivers 2 or Foamstars, but still, youâve already seen sites like IGN try to put a positive spin on HD2 when we know it would have been the opposite if it was an Xbox game.
Was Valhalla really that huge? Like the main quest lasts a very long time?
Yeah 70-80 hours for main quest
Itâs just a very long game lol. Itâs Ubisoftâs most successful AC game ever so I expected this new one to be long too haha.
I gave up on ACV after a few hours, felt like I wasnât getting anywhere, got boring way too quickly for me. Felt like if I had pressed on for more hours Iâd seriously harm my gaming enjoyment.
I canât get into Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost of Tsushima but put 150+ hours into AC Valhalla lol I think thereâs still some stuff to collect in the last DLC map
I guess they thought they were Atlus. I thought Odyssey was long enough, but if itâs that much for Valhalla, well I guess I have to be ready. Lol.
