I want a return to shorter gens tbh.

If they find it too early then don’t upgrade? Series consoles will continue to get support for years anyway

I didn’t expect Tales of Arise to be that difficult. I still find it to be a good game.

What difficulty? I recall someone here recommending playing on easy.

Generations seem quite pointless to me now. Still getting cross gen games 4 years in. Might as well not bother.

I actually want generations to go eight years with or without a mid-gen refresh like the Pro, mainly because it takes years for development studios to release a single game so at least there’s a chance of getting maybe two games a generation from a development studio. One early and one near the end.

Also, the tech is never fully utilized until the second half of the generation, especially the last two years or so. If generations were 5 years, it would be such a waste in my opinion.

As for Xbox 2026, makes sense because they can’t afford to go head to head with Sony so better off releasing two years earlier.

I played it on easy. It’s very grindy, like overboard grindy. I was under leveled near the end of the game that I bought a few of those level increase upgrade micro-transactions simply because I didn’t want to keep grinding and just wanted to wrap up the game.

I don’t even care if a development studio skips an entire generation. The games will be cross gen anyway, just means there will be better hardware to play them on.

I also think the taking advantage of hardware stuff was more relevant when consoles had extremely custom designs and architectures. Since the PS4/One generation, consoles have just been PCs. There is nothing special about them.

Yeah, but cross-gen games aren’t taking full advantage of the newer ones. All the cross-gen games this generation were maxed out for PS4/XBO but just somewhat upgraded for PS5/XS. I want to see games that squeeze every ounce out of what the consoles can do. Lasting only a few years is a complete waste in my opinion because you never get to see that.

Cross gen games are going to be bigger next gen than this one. It’s the new norm. That talk about 50% of Xbox/PS MAU still being last gen 4 years into the generation cements that even further.

No I dont care for steam or PC anymore. I have no issues with it but id much rather game within the xbox and ps consoles and handhelds. There are many people like this just like there are many people who dont game on consoles at all. Iv wanted a new sony handheld for a long time. The vita is my favorite handheld ever made.

I think so too. There’s no point in generations anymore, it’s going to be like PC. Eventually the games won’t work on the oldest shit.

What do you mean by bigger? Cross gen goes longer? Or the games themselves are bigger like AC Valhalla times three? lol

Longer and more common. They can’t afford to limit the reach of big budget games. As much as we want the best games possible, it’s bad for the industry to hit the reset button on the user base… Ever. They should be keeping the market of people that can buy their game at as big of a level as possible even across generations.

Oh damn, even on easy? I remember this from Ni no Kuni 1, not a fan of all that excessive grinding, damn. I wish devs would ease tf down with that shit.

You love to see it. Well, I sure do.

The problem with this is that the tech and games would never advance. They would always be held back by older tech and hardware. Only way cross-gen works is if the console(s) were modular meaning you can swap out the CPU/GPU/RAM/SSD in order to keep upgrading the console.

I’m someone that prefers generations and new tech and hardware with games taking advantage of that new tech and hardware. If this doesn’t exist, there’s truly no point in any of it.

Yeah, the last two areas or so was a pain in the ass and I could have done the extra side quests but wasn’t sure how much they would increase my level so I just said screw it and bought 3 upgrades. 5 levels each to go up 15 levels.

Luckily, after beating the base game, I was able to complete the expansion as the final boss was literally a few levels lower than me despite me buying those level upgrades.

Damn. How much did the 3 upgrades cost you?

It would advance, old gen isn’t supported forever. As more and more people transition it gets dropped and you have a new baseline.
