XboxEra Community Hangout |OT12| The Dirty Dozen

So, with all the great games I still have in my backlog and all the games I’ve yet to play in Gamepass, it would make sense that I would embark on a bizarre quest to play through all of the mainline Final Fantasy games since I had never beaten 2, 3 and 5. I started a month or two back and I now find myself at the very end of FF 3 and my god I don’t think I’ve ever played a more unbalanced RPG in my entire life.

Why am I doing this to myself?

Yes. I loved the characters in 1, 2 and also presequel but 3? Meh. Especially those twins, the villains, I hated them, simply not funny. I know it’s near impossible to find another villain as amazing as Handsome Jack but this was bad.

Could you imagine the tears if they done the unthinkable and announced their games were going multiplat.

Wouldn’t it just be the pro model or whatever they are doing?

Most likely.

I want to clean up my Google Photos storage but I am getting confused as hell. I do not want to remove any photos or videos from my device, my phone. Yet when I go into Google Photos and I removed a certain photo and also deleted it in the bin, it was removed from my device too. Wtf?

I’m trying to see if I can filter Google Photos to NOT include content on my device. But how?

Is there a place to do it on the web/PC?

I googled it and it’s just strange as hell.

First I have to disable backups in the Photos settings. Then via pc I indeed have to go to the Photos page and then I can delete content without it being removed on the device. Here I always thought if I deleted from the Photos app it would solely remove from the cloud.

To me it makes sense it wouldn’t remove it from my device, damn.

According to new patents Sony might be looking at having their games portfolio work on other CPU architectures. Seems like both MS and Sony might be looking at similar solutions again next gen and ARM is looking more and more likely. Made sense for MS, especially with the big ARM for Windows push, but I guess the whole industry is heading this way. Could help though with porting between all systems as well as Mac OS and all mobile platforms.

Also makes the possibility of a handheld more and more likely.

MS going to be such a dominant player in AI it’s not even funny. Stays talked about the synergy between AI and their Xbox division in interviews; how wonder how that will materialize and how much of an impact that will have. Considering they are a major AI player and that the other gaming platforms will never be able to compete with them on that front, whatever it is that they are thinking about will hopefully have a positive impact.

PCs are going to stay x86 for the most part for a while yet though - but it likely won’t matter as yes Windows will still be the OS layer regardless and allow both types to be used with no issues for front end users.

Other players have more of an issue, as they don’t have the size of Apple or the reach of Windows, so their custom offerings for ARM would need to be easy to develop for (not PS3 all over again basically) but still support their previous x86 layer for backwards compatibility - which is harder as it won’t have the out-of-the-box ability Windows and other common x86 apps will have.

So yep if Sony want to go that road it’ll be a lot of effort, while Xbox can rely on the rest of Microsoft’s work

Hilarious roles are reversed between AI and gaming.

To some will think, it’s double or nothing.

Sad thing is, this is standard. But the amount of "I’ll believe it when I see it’"s will be legendary and no less pathetic. Other guys might as well close up shop. No game will ever beat it.

No game not named GTA and that ain’t dropping this year.

Xbox has been on such a roller coaster lately, I’ve given up trying to imagine what will happen next.

I do find it a little funny to read the “Meh, this still won’t make people care about Game Pass” responses. What a contrast from a couple years ago when all you read was “COD can’t be allowed to release on Game Pass, it would bankrupt Sony and destroy the industry!!1”.

When you think about it, this will be the most important CoD release.
