I know why they made Exoprimal is because they wanted to make a game about robots fighting dinosaurs, but I wonder if they were also gauging whether people were still even into dinosaurs.
One of the producers for Dino Crisis was supposed to be heavily involved with development for Exoprimal too so maybe something’s there?
I would not be surprised if they kinda do both, a native Xbox handheld, and a PC handheld with Xbox/PC Game Pass branding and focus in partner with one of the manufacturers already doing them.
Yup, best outcome to me is a Xbox branded console and handheld and a ‘bring your own device’ model where you can use your own windows based device if it meets certain requirements. Even if the non-Xbox ones have limitations on BC.
I’m guessing it will be an Xbox console handheld and they will simply improve the PC experience on windows devices like the Ally rather than making a Xbox branded PC handheld
I mean why wouldn’t they at least look to do that on paper, makes sense to me, a manufacturer already making and selling PC handhelds, with a MS partnership they’re offered a deal to have Xbox or PC Game Pass branding (just software and branding, same hardware they already make) and that defaults to the Xbox app but can boot other stuff if you choose. Maybe they even get a good enough amount of money from MS for that they start selling the devices for less of a premium and have a competitive advantage against other PC handhelds.
I dunno, it probably does make sense to have a wide range of hardware for people, I guess I was just looking at it from a casual PoV and maybe people getting mixed up between the console handheld and the PC one but maybe that’s going back to the “granny getting confused with Series S” argument lol
I can see why it could seem confusing but I’m thinking it will still have the manufacturer and handheld brand on there as well, just alongside Xbox/PC Game Pass. The Box and visuals also would be designed to not be confused, I guess,
Best future outcome for me is to see Sony release all their games day one on PC via Steam and then see Valve release multiple tier versions of a Steam Box like they did before but far better. Give me a Native 1440p/HDR/60FPS locked with high settings for $1000 and I would easily jump in.
I meant for Xbox specifically I still don’t think I’d want to be locked into Steam because then you lose access to Game Pass and other stores (like Epic) that sometimes have exclusives (or loads of free games).
Also haven’t been impressed with Steam at all since I got my PC, outside of pricing when trying to find older titles.
The best thing about Steam is game discovery especially for indies. Probably the best platform for indies because of the ease of publishing and audience reach. The platform itself technically is fine, I don’t know what’s so special about it that PC gamers are so fanatically attached to it but I’m also someone that just finds and plays games and doesn’t bother with social features and stuff like that maybe that’s what people like so much about it.
