According to Gamedeveloper.com they waited until the end of GDC to notify about the termination, people didn’t get any severance and finally Jeff Strain deleted his LinkedIn profile.

Almost gauranteed to come to Xbox. Maybe ‘switch 2’ but doubt it.

Unless you’re a smaller indie team, being an independent team making these bigger AAA type games sounds scary af, feels like any of them could die at anytime

Obviously with Sony/MS or other big publishers there’s no guarantees either but id feel a lot safer working on a CoD than I would with these

I don’t get why some of these new studios formed by former AAA devs seem to go straight for AAA games. Why not get around 10 - 20 devs and make indies that won’t require several years and millions of dollars to make?

I guess they couldn’t get external funding so easily if they were “just indies” instead of AAA.

The Quarry would be such an awesome experience with a group of friends offline, I wish that was attainable to me :sob: but it’s a nice game regardless, easily Supermassive’s best since Until Dawn, the games they made between them were underwhelming.

Egos, perhaps? Lack of business savy?

Pretty sure NateTheHate mentioned it too, but it was lost amongst the HFR port fallout.

I expect both FF7’s as well or Square to file chapter 11.

Im not confident on 7. 16 is a no brainer because that game sales were embarassing

Im sorry…when games like hogwarts, diablo 4, zelda, baldurs gate are making double digit sales figures with relatively similar budget to 16 and youre only doing 3 to 4 m max at full price…yeah thats shocking

And theyve lost those sales forever. This game isnt going to do millions on pc and xbox with such a long delay in release. A lot of people who would have bought this pc day 1 has forgotten about it or moved on

Perhaps they underestimate the struggle from these studios and thought they won’t have those, only to go through themselves.

Man Dd2 is already down to 4th plave in steam best selling games in just 4 days. Capcom massively fumbled this launch and really hurt the game’s sales

Long term it will do better. The first one didnt do great out of the gate

Playing Tales Of Arise and about 25 hours in. Enjoyed it so far but now I just want it to end.

It now feels like they are just extending the length and the grind with multiple floors of enemies is just getting repetitive. Soo many enemies draining CP constantly and using up items.

Dragon’s dogma 2 is going to do great over time. This fumble launch crap is weird. Misinformation and people don’t understand what’s going on actually going on.

Hard to read. It could be Marvel movie where it went too big at launch or recently Dune 2 where it starts good but good leg for the long run. Or maybe a mix of both but the decline from launch has to be big before steady.

I see the AI haters are back in this thread.

The irony of people hating on AI Art when the mantra of artists for decades, centuries even, has been “It’s art because I say it is!”

Anyway I actually think AI images are just the beginning. I fully expect to be generating entire feature length movies by the end of the decade. Embrace the future :v:

I know, right? Haha

It’s good to see media keeping the same energy. And honestly, I don’t think I can even disagree with those devs either. The CPU won’t get a huge increase, so how many games in 60fps can we truly expect? Very likely not GTA 6, but I guess the jury is still out on other games. If we do get many games at 60fps that aren’t on the base consoles and with better graphical quality too, I’d say it’s worth it. We gotta wait and see.
