Game Pass may help with this to a degree but yeah MS (and the other AAA publishers) should keep budgets at reasonable levels and instead of going overboard with worthless visual fluff they should put that money and time to create interesting and fun to play games first and foremost. Visuals are already at a really high level so there’s no need to waste more money on the presentation. Also they should be more flexible in terms of pricing their games (like MS is doing right now with HFR and Hellblade 2).
That being said reviewers and a big part of the gaming community are fast to call something “janky”, “looking like a last gen game” or “short and not worth the money” so I don’t know how such a scenario will play out critically and sales wise but this is the only sustainable way to go forward in the AAA space while keeping the future software high quality and not safe/boring AF IMO.
If a game like Hi-Fi Rush was a big success (a smaller AAA game with a concept out of the norm that is not 50 hours long with a 30 euros price) I’d say that maybe there was hope for the AAA industry but right now I am not sure anymore.

Again thanks for the heads up, just spotted it has typos in the Xbox description too (Chef Quimby rather than Chief Quimby for example) which is often a red flag.
I’ll wait for 90% off then see if my inner child is still filled with glee by “go go Gadget Copter”

It’s quite amazing the game was played and bought by millions, yet going places like that would be a reality of Fortnite ruling the world. If you honestly believe internet is everyone, you better rethink.
GDC is a seminar conference for professional game developers. It is not a public facing show. It’s focus has been and always should be on the seminars and presentations by others in game development.
The exhibitors section is entirely different matter and is open to anyone willing to front the money.
I suspect its attendee list has also grown outside the actual target audience that can comprehend the material, where anyone who dreams of making mad money off gaming has signed up to attend thinking it will somehow get them a leg up. In essence it’s like anyone off the street stumbling into a University Lecture Hall to sit in on one presentation of “The singularities of gravitational collapse and cosmology” because they think it will give them the roadmap to becoming a master of the universe.

It’s crazy how much unreal is taking over the engine scene where in the world is Crytek and IDTECH. I’d love to see other engines get the spotlight as well. All the UE5 games are beginning to look somewhat similar.

ID is its own entity alas stick to their home team and not giveaway. Crytek, well not sure about them. I mean they did or currently struggling with finance I think. I haven’t done much research.
If you buy from LRG, I would definitely avoid their collectors edition and just go for the standard version. Sometimes you have to wait longer than normal (month or even years) before you get the CE and most of the time it feels incredible cheap.

I mean it’s in Game Pass, so you technically getting it for collection, so yeah. Otherwise, go with your suggestion. Though if it’s cheap, then best to go low then.
