I feel like a broken record sometimes but this is the 5 year dev cycle world that we live in now. I hate it. When studios could put out games every 1 to 2 years it was possible to recover from a flop. Now you have one flop and you’re not going to get another chance until the next hardware generation. Two flops in a row? May as well close up shop, your last good game will be “retro” by the time you can put out another and all your fans have moved on. At that point you’re trying to market to kids who were toddlers the last time you released a game.

I am kinda surprised that the development studios are so exposed, I always figured the publisher took thr brunt of the risk but it sounds like the deals are not structured how I imagined.

Sigh. This sucks for me since 8 is probably my favorite in the series.
Watched a bunch of the MK1 story on youtube, these cutscenes and animations are so well done
I wasn’t sure about MK1s visuals when it first came out but this is so far ahead 11 and mk11 looked amazing
