… isn’t it a normal reaction to how much Sony did in that regard?
There aren’t many companies to buy exclusives from outside of Square Enix. Embracer’s current situation makes me believe that it could be the next company that Sony takes advantage of its miseries.
After many State of Plays without them, not to me.
I doubt MS bought exclusives from those studios, Sony would have used them in court. Stalker is Microsoft bringing a PC franchise to consoles as it already did with The Witcher and TES.
Stalker 2 exclusivity deal was part of the court documents.
can never be certain ![]()
So… none of the counter-examples disproving your current FUD count. Seems logical…
The game in question was already announced for Xbox. What are we even doing here?
Looking forward to seeing Metro 4 even though I will be surprised to see it on a Sony show since all three previous games were under Microsoft/Xbox marketing.
Stalker 2 is a 3 month console exclusivity contract.
I would really be fine (actually love) if it’s more of the Exodus formula.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is only coming to console at all because Xbox gave them a bunch of money and a Game Pass deal. The devs said that years ago, is what it is.
Yeah and in return it’s first on Xbox for 3 months and if they’re making it for PS5 it’s gonna be 6 months or so after launch at least.
I may be wrong but weren’t the following timed/permanent exclusives too?
- High on Life
- Warhammer Darktide
- Valheim
- Sable
- CrossfireX (yes I know)
- Echo Generation
- Slime Rancher 2
- Somerville
- Scorn
- The Last Case of Benedict Fox
I’m probably missing loads or for whatever reason they ‘wont count’ but yeah… I think Xbox aren’t afraid of doing more exclusivity deals!
To say Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2014 was their last big exclusive is not accurate IMO.
They definitely do, but there’s IPs like Final Fantasy for example which Xbox would have to pay significantly more to get that Xbox isn’t getting anymore like they did Rise of the Tomb Raider. I honestly think Xbox never really was that much into those big money hats to begin with? I could be wrong but I’m sure they were never as much as Sony is into them.
It’s different than a “this game was multiplat but we’re paying you to just not put it other places for a while”. I’m fine with something like Stellar Blade, because PlayStation saved that one from cancellation. The “this 3rd party multiplat is coming to everything!” turning into “well… nvm later on one” is frustrating. It’s the type of deal that gives no benefits to any customers. At least a Game Pass deal gets the game into the sub service for their users.
I don’t think they bother without a Game Pass deal, Game Pass + exclusivity of a big game is too much.
Yeah that’s fair, Xbox obviously had lots of new big titles (such as all their exclusive titles with Remedy) but from my perspective they usually avoided ‘blocking’ titles coming to other platforms which is how I usually perceive PlayStation’s method. Especially when it related to big titles like Street Fighter.
It was a few years ago, not so much anymore imo
Regardless, getting worked up over potential exclusives every time the competition has a show sounds exhausting
The stalker devs are probably struggling to get the PC/Xbox versions done as is, they’d be lucky to have the PS5 version done within 6 months
Yeah I get that distinction. More of Sony’s deals definitely fall into into that situation where the game was by default multiplatform but they paid to exclude another platform.
