Yeah, I wrote that comment before I took a gander at the leaks lol those costs are madness
Yeah. I canât blame anyone for the commonly accepted perceptions. But damn, reality is a stark contrast. Its insane how much they spend to make a single game.
The Disney/Spiderman stuff is even crazier to me
3-400m on the game alone and then all the Disney costs on top of that from game sales and 50% from bundles? Itâs absurd
Thatâs why all the voices bandying about ârevenue this and revenue thatâ during the last two years were all morons - profit is the primary, non-statistical value that is of the most concern for corporations, and seeing how little Sony has been making in the end (in spite of all that revenue), to me, tells a completely different story than what the media and losers online would have you believe. I have long said Sony is going to be hurting this gen because of their unwillingness to adapt to market conditions⌠and wellâŚ
You could almost say that their poor profit margins are a result of âbad managementâ.
Nintendo are still the OG when it comes to profit margins, if anything Xbox should be looking to learn from them rather than PS.
In Xboxâs defense, they are trying new ways by releasing day and date with PC, subscription with fresh new game day one, and multiple ways to play Xbox via cloud or Steam. Plus, their backup is live service or if you want to go outside, Azure and AI, especially Azure. Theyâre covered.
I wonder if Sony put themselves into a hole because I donât think their audience will be that receptive to AA games. They trained their audience that itâs big AAA or bust. I know people like to clown on Microsoft for some of their AA efforts. However, stuff like grounded, Pentiment, State of Decay, Sea of Thieves, and other games seem more sustainable than solely creating blockbusters and third party exclusion deals.
I believe Sony has had plenty of those types of games over the years, but they probably donât draw the playerbase/revenue that Sony is looking for, and players outside of their ecosystem probably donât know they exist either for all the reasons you mentioned.
Big point, they conditioned the market for specific expectations, anything not like said expectations is discarded and âdoesnât countâ. So even some of their smaller budget/scale games while good and despite having the brand behind them, didnât really do that hot. Smaller games can absolutely be huge, Sony just doesnât know how to orient them due to the way they conditioned their audience and some of their self-perception (see pricing of R&C, Returnal, etc.)
Also, calling it now - weâll see another âXbox non-issueâ being blown out of proportions in the next 72 hours. Would love to be wrong but these coordinated campaigns have gotten predictable for years now - both from media and from âgamersâ.
We already seeing one games media site opt to not cover any of the content of the Sony PlayStation leaks but they absolutely covered the content of the Microsoft Xbox FTC leaks. Media going into full on Sony Protectionist mode.
They rarely do those type of games. I think last game was Sackboy, and it didnât perform well.
I see IGN is covering it, but you can see the difference in how theyâre reporting the news though
Sure are⌠I would never wish for any of the personal info to be even reported on (obviously) but itâs amazing to me to see the pearl-clutching from so many corners that had absolutely no qualms painting a target on Matt Bootyâs back (among plenty of other examples that were generated from the leaks on the MS side of the fence). Itâs the blatant favoritism and hypocrisy committed that makes the reaction to this all so tiring.
This situation is distressing but I donât see news outlets not covering Jeff Grubb, Jason Schreier etc. from now on, so weâre going to see a lot of hairsplitting over what kind of leaks/breaches are âmorally okayâ to talk about and which arenât.
Yet another reason GP works, if itâs âindieâ or AA it doesnât matter, you can try it out for âfreeâ
Hmm unsure if gamespot is the company youâre talking about, but its interesting they covered CDProjekt red hack, GTA 6 hack, and the Microsoft FTC stuff, but wonât cover this

lol interesting they actually linked to a tweet showing the footage
Man, that Sony revelation regarding MS and ABK is really triggering a lot of folks right now. This is what happens when the reality of things shatter the illusions Sony has been feeding them.
