Apparently he’s not really an xbox leaker but has known stuff ahead of time when it comes to the tech/hardware these companies are going to use
Isn’t that the same guy that said PS5 Pro won’t be good enough for 60 FPS GTA6?
Ok. Then I guess it’s just just him assuming next Xbox (not the new design) is sooner than we all think. Unless he does know more. Either way, kinda interesting.
I’m wondering how the market would react to a PS5 Pro vs a Xbox Series S/X 2? Also, how a next gen Xbox would compare to a PS5 Pro in terms of specs.
Usually they try to have a clear divide when there is a new gen, like new CPU architecture, new GPU tech like ray tracing, etc. What would be that new factor in 2026?
I would be so very okay with 2026. It sure would be an interesting situation if it’s Pro vs a next gen Xbox. I really wonder if that guy genuinely knows more, but of course he’s not gonna spill the beans. Also wonder if that new design is going to come out or not.
Console CPU’s are a bit outdated right now, if it’s true that the PS5 Pro won’t improve that, it’s going to get worse each year, that’s where the biggest difference would be between a next-gen Xbox and PS5 Pro.
The key, as we’ve seen in the past, is to focus on a machine that’s easy to develop for, and to not get too behind. Xbox 360 was weaker than PS3, but easier to develop for, and since it had a good market share, most multiplatform games performed better there, also thanks to developers focusing on it as the primary platform.
Just like it’s happening this generation with PS5, there’s always exceptions but yea.
Another thing time has proven is that graphic comparisons and pixel counting don’t matter much outside of forums.
I would be all over a new Xbox in less than 3 years for sure, but Xbox being so far behind in sales and momentum really being in Sony’s favor, as well as both consoles being so similar in tech, it’s hard to know how the market would react. Using the newly acquired ABK have a big title exclusive to a potential next gen Xbox along with a big Bethesda title could potentially help, and of course early adopters will also make sure the first few months the console sells out anyway, but I just wonder if it would be enough.
I guess if everyone now just does their own thing and releases on different schedules it oculd really shake up the market. Wonder how complicated it would make it for devs with so many different specs to target.
If generations were still going like they used to, an early next-gen Xbox with Elder Scrolls 6, Fable, Perfect Dark, Forza Horizon 6 , Gears 6, Blade, Indiana Jones… in year 1 and launch window… would be glorious and huge, but generations don’t work traditionally anymore.
A Pro console is just a stop gap compared to an actual next gen console specwise one would think. Looking back at the Pro consoles of last gen they had the exact same CPUs as their vanilla versions. I see this being the case with a PS5 pro console too.
Yup, it’s mostly the same games with the same framerate (sometimes higher) but at a higher resolution. But last gen it was 1080p vs 4k. Now it would be more like, lower dynamic resolution vs higher dynamic resolution, which I don’t think would have that much of an impact. So I really wonder how much better that PS5 Pro will be to be honest, especially since I don’t think we’ve seen that much progress on AMD hardware imo.
Really wish MS would jump on a custom Silicon like Apple, really feel like they could do something great with the right hardware team looking at what they are achieving in the AI hardware space right now.
I am all for going back to five year gens. Xbox skipping a pro and going straight for a next gen console would be better IMO.
I’ve also stood on my square that with the cost of producing games nowadays and the increase reliance on longer cross generation periods, that generations should become more of a rolling window rather than a fixed start/stop point in time.
Why does a Pro exist when it has half the support life of the original console? Why should the Pro be held back by the technology of the non-Pro (like CPU)? Release new hardware more frequently, support a prolonged cross gen period, and start treating things more like PC.
He is known leaker for amd products.
Good. This means xbox is preparing for early next gen. Just what I wanted.
Asgard’s Wrath 2 got some great reviews and it’s not coming to PSVR2. That device is so screwed.
Xbox has always been the WRPG Mecca.
VR is stupid right now. It seems most devices are so different that games can’t be “multiplatform” even if they wanted. It will get good once most devices can play most of the games.
