I do remember him playing it off like he knew. Truth be told, it is possible that we are all guessing. Klob’s post sounds like he is certain, but we’ll see. I’ll keep my expectations minimum.
I want to say people damage controlling Sony right now with the Bungie situation is shocking but at this point they will do almost anything and everything to blame everything else, fucking yikes.
At least it’s not just IGN now.
Bungie deserves to get swallowed whole by the Sony machine. It seems like a just end for a studio that barely kept the wheels on the cart since God knows how long (I’d say since soulblighter but that’s probably up for debate). Just glad I never got caught up in the hype for that bland marathon trailer. I won’t even say “if only they stuck with Microsoft” because I didn’t give a flying fuck about Destiny after playing the first one and it’s shating of the bed with it’s weak narrative.
Yeah, discussion feels really tame, like no one really cares. But it’s probably the reality settling in.
Those who said Bungie would bring their expertise to Sony’s Gaas games and saying it was worth more than ABK or whatever, have disappeared. And I think fans are just waiting patiently for some good news right now, enjoying the games they have.
There’s not much to say. All the arguments they had against Xbox (AI stuff, lack of new announcements, lack of marketing…) got demolished in a few months. They are mostly looking at numbers to get their fill now.
Honestly, it’s sad to see Bungie like that. I don’t want them to lose their soul to Sony notlikethat.gif
Bold to assume they have a soul to sell in the first place.
It’s clear that whatever soul Bungie had has died with the split with MS and that whatever success they’ve been having over the past decade was due to the grassroots employees that have been clearly discarded as an afterthought by the higher ups at Bungie due to their incompetence.
ABK has done some crappy things but me thinks Bungie was the issue in that partnership rather than ABK.
How could one even answer that as the game is not in development. More importantly, why would anyone answer that hypothetical future looking question in a court of law? There is nothing to be gained from answering it. It only boxes yourself in.
Yep and… well, we all know how that was. Trying to remind people again not to get excited… some of you do remember the last one was literally Phil presenting at Blizzcon? Yeah it was cool, but hardly worth hyping people up about to the extent that he does.
As someone with far too many hours between D1 and D2, it was very clear within a year after the ABK split that Bungie and their terrible leadership were the problems. Funny how all the terrible practices: MTX everything, showcasing “seasonal gear” that was never earnable in game but only through MTX, “sunsetting” content that you paid for. There’s not been a service game I dropped as much as I have Destiny and after giving it another attempt in 2020 only to realize that their seasonal “activities” were literally the same two events reskinned and resold ad nauseam, I’ve effectively sworn off the studio. Marathon’s absolute joke of an unveil further cemented my stance- why call it marathon when it literally has no connection and is an arena shooter?!
I’m glad to see people finally realize how many journos and “personalities” fawned over a rotting corpse.
im still not getting my hopes up. I remember last year I was really hyped for xbox at this event and we saw how that turned out. I will gladly be disappointed
They really need to bring XB and X360 backwards compatibility to PC.
I think Xbox will have exactly one thing to show at the game awards.
You would think they might try to show something 1st party and visually impressive, but maybe they would prefer to show one of the games they partnered on (Global Publishing) if their partners want a big, more broad spotlight.
I’m not hyped for The Game Awards but I am looking forward to it as im expecting to get a few new game reveals out of it a few release dates that I have been waiting on.
Broken clock and all that. Anyone even a bit familiar with how Sony does things realizes this.
Same with Stellar Blade.
Did anyone hear the MS vs FTC trial? something to note or nah? I wonder what is the next step.
Said many times, the Bungie that made Marathon , Myth and Halo have been dead for ages. 343 is probably has more of the old Bungie spirit than the current day version of the studio. People have been quick to point out with studios like Rare for example how the people who work there during the so called “glory days” in the 90’s are gone now, well that is 100% true for Bungie.
Oh, just follow what Florian has tweet to have an idea what happened there:

Yeah I watched it. The FTC claimed some insane stuff and I was very surprised the judges didnt call them out more on their wild assertions.
The highlight of the FTCs assertions is that because they prove a company can make a profit while foreclosing content then that means the FTC should receive a PI. So basically anytime that theres competition and someone can make profit then the FTC has met the legal standard to get a PI in their mind.
The only questions that were potentially concerning that came up were around subscription services and ABK content. Judge asked how thats not harmful, Mocrosofr responded about consumer, judge responded about compeition harm. Microsoft followed that up by pointing out the FTC didnt present evidence that would harm the market and that Sony has many other paths to compete harder in subscription services. I felt like Microsoft handled it well, but it was the one area that felt like judges maybe had some concerns.
Overall, the FTCs responses to the judge about what they think the standards are were flat out insane and I was shocked the judges didn’t lecture there. Hopefully they rip them apart in the response on those standards.
