That’s not what Jez is saying. His point is that this is the first big live service game in decades that is actually moving to the next gen, and MS and Xbox should capitalise on that fact by the Series S being the cheapest way to get that game.
He makes a great point that all the major live-services are still live on Xbox One, and as such players and revenue has actually climbed despite the stall in Series console sales. This is the chance to have a console able to play the game of the generation for £200/$250 cheaper, which is frankly a no brainer, for many.
Yup. I feel like it should be a far bigger story if it’s happenings to so many. I haven’t logged into my PSN for a while since my Pro is in storage, but I’ll be pissed if I do and I can’t access the games I downloaded ( particularly Gravity Rush 1 and 2, which i’ve yet to finish) because they can’t get their shit together when it comes to their online infrastructure.
They don’t “need” to partner with anyone. The console makers will be the ones courting them. Money talks and Microsoft has a lot! GTA will sell on name alone. Whether or not Xbox has marketing rights will likely come down to if they bothered to pursue them in the first place.
Was looking at the coming soon section on the xbox store, and it sucks that some AAA games are launching for $95 in Canada. Feels like I should become a patient gamer with the crazy price of gaming these days
Yeah, I think I am going to lean into that because games do go on sale within 3 months. I think I am just going to get must have day ones. I think for me the must have game day one would be like a dragon: infinite wealth, GTA 6, FF7 Rebirth. However, I might wait on FF7 Rebirth because Like a dragon and Persona 3 release around the same time, and I might be able to get FF7 on sale once I am done with those games
I already have far too many games in my backlog with GP, I don’t suffer from FOMO anymore unless it’s very specific things so I never feel the need to buy anything anymore
Yeah, there are a lot of benefits to being patient as well besides games being cheaper. They are often fully patched up and depending on how long you wait, also content complete.
Buying a new, half broken, game for $90 or a patched up Ultimate Edition with a bunch of DLC at $25? -Not that tough of a choice tbh.
A lot of times when I pick a game from the backlog it’s a much more pleasant and fun experience than playing a newly released game.
Yes it has to be something very specific for me to jump in day one. Fortunately some of those must-plays shows up in my GP sub anyway, like Starfield hehe.
The same games are launching at $90 physically so it’s publishers being lazy about regional pricing for digital releases unfortunately. Not that $90 is much better.
When this came up last time I mentioned maybe switching to PC for new releases because of key sites. For me I already have a capable PC built so at least the hard part is done lol. Dragon’s Dogma 2 and LAD Infinite Wealth for PC are $78 CAD on Fanatical. Though for me LAD Gaiden was never going to be a day 1 due to how fast Sega games crater in price lol.
I feel tempted to build a gaming pc next gen and just get a Nintendo console . However, toughest part is most of my friends are on console , so would be tough to play multiplayer games
