Moving on from the drama so I’m going to ask this question, which upcoming games from Xbox do you guys think will get GOTY nominations( not just from Game Awards but others like D.I.C.E. Or BAFTA), or have good reception from everyone similar to Hifi Rush?
My guess would be Fable, Hellblade 2, Elder Scrolls 6, maybe ID’s next game and my dark horse pick: Clockwork Revolution.
I think the argument is more that they haven’t had exclusives nominated. Which is fair. What that tells me is the quality is there but maybe something up on the voting side. Hmm…
After the last fuck up, in a sane and kind world, FH6
High Chances:
Fable (faith in Playground but it is still a departure for em).
Avowed (scale complains might happen, but if the game is good and next year shapes up as quiet as it looks, good year to slip in)
The Outer Worlds 2
Clockwork Revolution (InXile doesn’t have TGA acclaim but this one looks ballsy and exciting)
Odyssey
Arkane Lyon’s Next (Dishonored 3)
Depends on What They’re Cooking:
Double Fine’s Next
Tango’s Next
Arkane Austin’s Next (I know we’re down on em, but have a little faith)
IW New IP
Don’t Sleep On:
South of Midnight (Compulsion does not have a great trackrecord but they have everything but the meat and potatoes in great shape, and they’ve hired Eidos and Ubisoft talent to help with the gameplay)
Indiana Jones (MachineGames is always a bridemaid, never a bride. Is this the time?)
Over the 30+ years I’ve been gaming, different publications and sites have had their own GOTY. Funny how now all of a sudden only the Keighly’s count. The boring 3 hour ad. Will never understand why people care. They have zero credibility.
maybe i read his tweet wrong. but people are gladly sitting their asses to watch the show for the trailers alone. not the awards. take out the trailers and see how many viewers it would get.
I think the problem here is the narrative will always change in the media/social media.
Going forward they still will say they don’t count because they also release on PC…
Doom technically should stand the highest chance, considering it’s been nominated twice in recent years, however even if it’s better in every way possible I’m sure there’s a way they will be able to spin it that it’s bad under Xbox…
There needs to be a change for gaming and gaming media. Between all the layoffs and the terrible takes. More folks with integrity like the staff here. Less folks with agendas.
Do someone knows if Xbox already started its Black Friday offers? or when will they do that? My brother is 100% buying one this month but wants to save some money.
Add a semblance of knowledge about dev or the industry to the mix… hell, at least a willingness to use the contacts they have to educate people at the very least. Would do some needed rehab of the overall gamer community’s toxicity, which you can draw a line directly to many of those journalists directly to feeding.
