I honestly feel sorry for game creators, studios and publishing companies. The gaming community creates their own expectations and standards and when those standards aren’t met, there’s “controversy” and an uproar about games that haven’t even come out yet.
On the flip side, most gamers who purchase games don’t follow things this closely and will have no idea what a game “should” have been when they play it.
I’m not trying to downplay anyone’s frustrations, but it often feels like the gaming enthusiast community needs things to be angry about. They need there to be some sort of controversy they can harp upon and I can only imaging the eyes rolling at every studio that makes games.
I didn’t read the article and I would probably agree with the general points made, but I’m just tired of the narratives. Let the games come out and judge them on their merits and not on some shadowy idea that Xbox is incapable of releasing good games or is incapable of managing studios properly. You tend to find what you’re looking for.
Reminds me of Prey documentary, which the review did hurt them a lot, morale and all. Why? Bugs. Redfall Performance Mode may have a bug that could hurt them just as bad as Prey. No way they should fall to that again.
This looks pretty good. Need to see more combat/gameplay but so far so good.
The reactions are disproportionate, but I agree with some points of the article. Xbox makes many such mistakes and it’s a shame because it tarnishes the image they are building. They have so many good things to offer, but the communication is constantly impacted by this kind of drama that could easily be avoided. It always feels like they’re shooting themselves in the foot, and it’s pretty tiring when you’re supporting the brand. Personally, I’m not impacted and can’t wait to get my hands on Redfall, but I would like them to do a big job on communication and marketing in the future. I hope we will have a big Xbox Showcase to forget all that and start again on a positive communication for the brand.
it’s all about communication when xbox nor dev barely promised anything about the game’ fps. putting words on people’s mouth.
Well, I saw this tweet that said the Redfall store page did say 60fps and now it’s removed.
It clearly was aiming to deliver that at launch, now they won’t be able to do it, so it’s best to remove it first.
Stumbled upon this:
Thanks, IGN.
That’s hilarious lol.
Not a good look imo because if they were aiming for 60 then should push it back since they had almost a year to get that ready for launch.
Suicide Squad officially delayed. 2nd February 2024 is now the new release.
I remember seeing 2022. Those were the days.
6 months isn’t gonna turn that game around
It looked fundamentally flawed from the ground up
glad you aint in charge, you will wait for the 60fps patch, or skip it.
So sad to see what’s become of Rocksteady. Not saying they can’t do it anymore, but this game judging by the gameplay footage so far…ain’t it.
At least this shows that 60fps was absolutely planned and that they likely hit some snags late in dev
Whatever scenario they chose they are in a lose-lose
- Push the game back further until 60fps is ready, be called incompetent
- Release as they are with 30fps and 60fps later, be called incompetent
I feel the latter is the better option, while I certainly would rather play in 60fps, many people don’t care about that stuff
Can only speculate but this game strongly comes across as something that was considered the trendy thing when they started dev and something that WB wanted them to make to get that GaaS money and it went so long into development that it was better to just finish it than to start fresh with something else, sunk costs or whatever
Maybe this was all Rocksteady but considering their past games I just find it hard to believe this is them and not WB
It will be 9 years since their last game when this release, 9 years for this
