XboxEra Community Hangout |OT| Safe Space no longer required (Part 1)

yeah its annoying when it happens, and made me order a play and charge kit since unsure if it will continue once i run out juice with current batteries

I don’t have controller connection issues at all, thank God. But could it be because I use my Elite V2 and not the XSX controller? Either way, these issues remind me of Xbox One in the early days, how it’s again a issue now is baffling to be honest.

I use the regular XSX controller and have literally not had one problem with it.

It definitely isn’t widespread then, that’s good. But it definitely sucks big time for Javier. Especially because it seems he can’t seem to get rid of the issue at all.

I think there’s an issue, pretty sure Xbox has acknowledged they’re working on a fix, but wouldn’t say it’s something the majority of owners are experiencing with confidence. I’ve experienced it a couple of times during the first month, but nothing since. The only thing I can think of that’s changed is I no longer use instant-on mode (no point given the speed of cold booting).

Beat Metro Last Light and got the bad ending so time to hit YouTube for the good one.

Yep I think people ere either too young or had parents who were well off enough to have a PC to realise how bad console gaming could have been if left to be exactly like PC online gaming.

Obviously now in a ubiquitous connected world it seems dumb but back then it was a godsend.

Played a few hours of the Outriders demo and then uninstalled as I didn’t need to play more. Was already day one and now even more so since I will be buying it digitally. Overall, loved and enjoyed what I played of the demo. Did three story quests and two side quests.

The game feels like The Division/Gears/Remnant From the Ashes in a sci-fi Destiny world with a touch of Mad Max in regards to the first hub area that you’re in. First thing that came to mind was Mad Max.

Overall, enjoyed it for the most part but a few issues which I have since tweeted to the official Outriders twitter account and will have to check to see if there’s an official Outriders forum on Reddit or something since I know developers read and look into it all.

The following should have an on/off option patched into the final retail release -

  • Blood Splatter … it’s too much and you can’t see shit. I have a health bar and don’t need this. Please give me the option of turning it off.
  • Enemy Detection Arrows … these arrows tell you the direction of where the enemies are attacking you from. I have a mini map and don’t need this. I always turn this option off in every game. Would like to do so here.
  • Motion Blur, Camera Shake, etc. … I hate all of this shit and want to be able to turn it off.
  • NPC Subtitles … when you’re in the HUB area, NPC’s will talk with one another. I want to hear but not read what they’re saying. I would like to turn this off. Turning this off also eliminates the subtitles from these NPC’s overlapping with the NPC’s that are vital.
  • Zoom In/Out option for the quest map. Don’t really need it. It’s not a necessity but would be nice to have if possible.
  • Dismantling weapons/armor should tell you what you’re getting in return from the resources. I would get 16 scrap for dismantling a weapon but if I would have sold it to a vendor, I would have received more scrap. Tell me what it is so I can check the price first and go with what gives me more scrap in return.
  • Text Background Color … this is a MUST FIX. Having a white background with white text does not freaking work. You can’t read shit. I have to go within a foot of my 55" CX OLED to read the damn thing because the text blends in with the background color. Very simple. White background, black text. Black background, white text. All solid, no transparency shit. (I also have this issue in AC Valhalla to where it’s like, how do the developers/testers/QA not see this??? SMH)

Other than those issues, no other complaints. One that MUST be fixed in my opinion and the rest can easily be ignored OR just have an on/off option added in.

With that all said, looking forward to the full game on April 1st.

Did you get some Mass Effect vibes from it? I checked it out as well and while I didn’t love it quite as much, I kept thinking it felt a bit like Mass Effect. I think I’d be more inclined to enjoy it if I had a group to play with, not sure solo though.

@peter42O tried a bit before uninstalling but they gotta do better with the HDR settings. You literally have no idea if what you are doing is making changes since its just a numeric slider.

I think they said HDR won’t be active until release anyway

They have confirmed a toggle for motion blur. They haven’t mentioned the camera shake though which needs to be sorted. I legitimately felt sick when I got to the end of the demo. Shame because I enjoyed it.

I have never played Mass Effect so I can’t say either way. I did play two hours of Destiny 2 when it went free to play and I can say that it has a sci-fi vibe like Destiny 2 has. I play fully solo and it’s difficult the higher the world tiers go but it’s doable as there’s no actual difficult level like easy, normal, etc. The world tiers ARE the difficulty level and you can always decrease the level if you’re having issues.

I played as the Pyromancer and love setting enemies on fire but there’s no health/med kits/packs. You gain back health which each killed enemy. However, the Technomancer gives you health back just for inflicting damage. I need to see if I can play as the Technomancer but use the skills of the Pyromancer.

That Stadia comment about Google spending millions got me thinking about how Sony is buying 3rd party games. I don’t think this can continue in future because if Xbox get’s bigger which I think it will this generation then the price is only going to keep going up to keep those 3rd party games exclusive. Another thing is, isn’t it a bit silly to be paying massive amounts of money building up IP for a 3rd party and could just say no the next time you ask then it goes on all platforms and you’re sat there with nothing in return.

I think this is what Microsoft sees and maybe the big reason why they don’t bother with it, why build up IP for someone else when you can create a big franchise with that money and all the revenue goes to you, not only that you can build up your platform and get even more money from other sources.

You’re making it sound pretty awesome and right up my alley…darn it, must resist! I’ve only around 10 games left in my “main backlog” lol.

I left HDR as is and had no issues with the HDR on the CX OLED. It looks great on the tv. No issues or complaints at all. I never mess with HDR in game.

You’re right. I remember seeing the toggle for motion blur for launch. Hopefully, they add in the camera shake on/off option too so you can play the game without feeling sick.

Why don’t you tryout the playable demo to see if you really like it? You don’t have to buy it right away anyway. Can always wait. If you’re interested in the game, you should at least check out the free playable demo.

@peter42O I’ve played for around 30 mins and didn’t get too far, seems fun. I just don’t want to be tempted to buy haha.

Hahahahaha. Game is real good. I’m looking forward to playing the full game.

Sony only needs to do the deals in the beginning of the generation to establish the userbase: “play XYZGAME here”. They can totally abandon paying for timed exclusives later because they already secured all of the fans for the most part. Once the fans are established with Sony it doesn’t matter if the game is released elsewhere. It works great for Sony, but it hurts the game(s) because now it’s harder to sell future games on the other platforms. Sony doesn’t have to make a new deal with the developer because “tough shit all of your customers are on our platform and you didn’t establish any on the other ones…too bad” This is further reinforced by the game’s “fans” who rather than be loyal the game developer, they are loyal to the Sony. If the developer tries to make a deal on another platform it becomes a betrayal, how dare they abandon their “loyal” fans, XYZGAME is associated with PS.

MS has moved away from timed exclusives because they can spend the “timed exclusive budget” on Gamepass. The same money that would be used to secure one major timed exclusive can probably pay for multiple GP games. From the developer’s POV, the same idea of taking upfront money for exclusivity (loss of sales on other platforms) can be applied to GP (only maybe a decrease in sales on Xbox).

MS has a lot of different deals they can structure thanks to Gamepass.
