The day is upon us. For the past 2 years, Xbox Showcase have delivered on what I would like to call, “The last remnant of E3 Spectacle.” Xbox Team know the assignment and I doubt that would change this year. This year gave us what possibly be the best Developer Direct so far; will that translate the same for the Showcase?
Looking back at last year’s showcase, it put out 30 games; 16 in which are first party games; 6 in which are expansion/update to the ongoing since they are defined as “Suffering from success.” I complied games that have shown and released by then:
Call of Duty Black Ops 6
Doom The Dark Ages
Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Expedition 33
South of Midnight
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn
Age of Mythology
Fragpunk
Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Avowed
Atomfall
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Stalker 2
Flight Simulator 2024
Here are the games that appeared elsewhere, so the chance of reappearing here is low:
Mixtape
Mecha Break
Metal Gear Solid Delta
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
I didn’t list games/updates from ongoing titles above as they have a chance to reappear here:
Diablo IV - Maybe a new expansion
Sea of Thieves
Fallout 76
World of Warcraft
The Elder Scrolls Online
Flight Simulator 2024 - Maybe a new location tradition
When reviewing the list, it leaves plenty of room for many new titles or even old ones that are ready to release. Not to mention, some of the titles, including Fable, could reappear and display new footage. There’s a lot to get hype over. So what about the prediction of who can show up? Here’s mine:
Persona 4 Remake - Atlus and Xbox have been brothers for a while. They released Metaphor on Game Pass just now; as if to signal for a new title is inbound. It was also rumored by insiders as much as Resident Evil 9. I don’t think it’s a seal, but history has repeat itself.
Silksong - This one is a toss up. This is technically a big get for Xbox as it is coming to Day One Game Pass and fans basically made this as “Whoever present it wins the weekend.” Take it, it’s yours!
Splinter Cell - Another toss up. The franchise has rich history with Xbox and what better way to reemerge than presenting on Xbox Showcase. Plus Ubisoft has been a ghost this weekend; it would be a sneaking way to return.
Anything new from First Party - Because of course.
The clock is ticking. It’s almost here. Share your prediction/expectation.
I don’t really have any predictions, as that way everything that gets shown is a surprise and not something to be disappointed in.
But I don’t think ESO will be on the show, because their new expansion is already out on PC coming to consoles next month. I don’t see them showing off the same expansion, unless they’re going to show us more of part 2.
There’s one thing I forgot to mention. Xbox lately has given some games their own show or announcement like Gears Remastered announcement, Oblivion Remastered deep dive and announcement, and more. Case in point, perhaps Call of Duty will get its own announcement rather than showing up here. Xbox has a different strategy this year and you know, it’s working.
I wouldn’t mind if CoD does show up. Xbox has a lot of stuff to present.
Maybe updated console? I don’t know why Xbox Series X restock slowed down if not halted entirely; at least based on big name online retail stores. But I can see new controller based on TOW2.
Two things from Double Fine. One out in next 9 months, the other maybe a little longer. They’re celebrating 25th anniversary in July, so maybe something mentioned for that.
What I think shows
Halo remake
Hollow knight
Ff16
Remake
Ff 9
Persona 4
Clockwork
Everwild
Gears
Double fine game
Elsewhere entertainment game
Remedy game
Plague tale
Small indies games not sure how many. I feel like the asus handheld should be here but who knows. I hope it is
