My Xbox Series X was updating and when it was at 90% seen in the link below, I held the Home Xbox button and it brought me back to the dashboard. At this point, I have no idea if the system finished updating. Did anything bad happen or did my system still successfully update in the background?
Have you tried turning it off and on again? That will likely tell you if its alright or not,
You could go into Settings, System, and see what the section about Console Updates says, if it has recent Last Updated time. You can also check for updates, and see if it says any new updates available or if it’s up to date.

I’m not sure. It may have bugged. I had updates blocked completely during the process (in the insider program) a couple times. Try another time to update it and if it’s still bugging at the exact same part, you have to reset your Xbox via the settings, restart the whole console setup and then try the update again.
