Xbox Projects and Timelines Thread | Official and Rumored List (65 and MORE TBD)

Yeah cause Avengers is ass

And GotG could see similar fate despite not being ass. Because the quality aspect isn’t the reason Square is not happy lmao, it’s the financial aspect.

It’s very interesting Compulsion are already spinning up a second while working on their first AAA titles. It’s not a cause of concern for me, I think it’s great, albeit surprising.

I’m very much looking forward to the reveal of Project Midnight.

I have no clue what to expect of Velvet, but I am hoping for something like Ninja Theory’s Beggar’s Opera tech demo for UE4.

Really want to know if Vonnegut is Shadowrun.

And if it is Shadowrun, as an XGSP title, whose making it, and if it’s a CRPG.

If it’s a CRPG then Harebrain Schemes makes sense.

If it’s 3rd Person/1st Person, then we could probably narrow it down considering XGSP means 3rd party studio/deals which is outside XGS/Bethesda.

MS ought to just buyout all rights owners on the FASA IPs.

Battletech, Crimson Skies, Shadowrun - all of them.

MS could pay a premium now to take full ownership and then go about their business like Games Workshop has done with Warhammer.

The Battletech IP itself has/had several franchise.

  • Battletech = turn based strategy
  • MechAssault = TPS
  • MechCommander = real time tactics
  • MechWarrior = FPS

If it were up to me, Creative Assembly would take “ownership” of the Battletech franchise as Relic did of AoE.

I’d like to see Crimson Skies rebooted by the good folk at Avalanche. I’d like a reboot to lean more into storytelling and worldbuilding, and gameplay outside of flying. Think Elite Dangerous or something similar like it, but third person. I want a big open world with settlements, factions, marauding pirates and all of that good shit.

inXile would be my pick for Shadowrun but they’ve got their hands full with Cobalt so that could be tricky. If not them, I’d be happy for it to be Sawyer’s return to directing AAA games - assuming he a) would want to, and b) couldn’t get a West Coast Fallout Game signed off on.

Why do you want Crimson Skies then?

This is really intriguing to me. I hope to God if there’s Shadowrun then it’s made by Arkane. If not, then I would like it be Obsidian, or InXile but after they finish their project.

The premise, the setting and the OG Xbox game being fun as fuck.

I’m not suggesting they take out the flying parts at all. It wouldn’t be Crimson Skies if it didn’t heavily involve flying. I’m saying I just want an added ground game in addition to a more robust feature set for flying. I’m talking crafting, ship upgrades, crew management, boarding mechanics (leading to third person combat while in the sky), etc.

I would want a Crimson Skies reboot to be an open world, third person action-adventure game that takes inspiration from past Crimson Skies games, Uncharted, Elite Dangerous and a bit of Just Cause - which is why I think Avalanche could be a great fit. Especially now they’re working on a vehicle-heavy “heist 'em up” game.

If Contraband turns out to be a great game, I’d love to see their Just Cause team in New York pick up CS.

My dream for a Crimson Skies reboot is that it’s made by Asobo. Some of the things you talked about could be fun but NOT open world stuff please.

I don’t know if Asobo would be suited to that, but they’re difficult to doubt after Plague Tale and Flight Sim.

An open world seems like the natural choice if you’re going to go big with Crimson Skies - which they absolutely wouldn’t have to, granted. It could be much smaller or even level based, but it makes more sense to me to make it open world, but use air pirates and narrative as natural barriers.

They could give players the choice to explore but dissuade them from prematurely going to territories they shouldn’t yet because they’ll be shot down by much stronger ships or they don’t have an upgrade to avoid the anti-air missiles. It could be that the starter ship is an old bucket that wouldn’t make it, or you need an upgrade for your ship that can only be gained from following the stories and completing quests and the like.

Side quests in a game like that could be so damn fun if they added a bunch of factions you could work with.

I wouldn’t be disappointed if the CS we got was a highly polished remake/reboot, but I know what my preference would be if it just a matter of signing a check.

Open world Crimson Skies? GOD NO.

Crimson Skies reboot should be made by Project Aces.

I think Compulsion are going to surprise a heap of people with what they can do. We happy few was quite interesting and you feel that if they had more resources and time they could really improve it out of sight. They have the ability to reach out to every studio within the Xbox family to get help if they want it.

Maybe Compulsion want to mimic Bethesda’s strategy to reveal a game closer to release. I don’t know. Out of all non-bethesda devs xbox’ve been acquired, they are the only one whose still not showing a damn anything.

No open world but I like the idea of on foot action sections, basically “skycharted” Def have to keep the airplane jacking from the original.

InXile hasn’t shown anything either

Most of the trademarks here are owned by MS.

There is some other licensing behind the scenes that I don’t understand that hinders a lot of this.

All those games originate from tabletop games

…Roundhouse too. Not a peep from them.

The problem for MS is that they don’t complete exclusive rights to any of the FASA IP, meaning others will benefit from the investment they make, one way or another.

It’s quite understandable MS wouldn’t be keen on funding titles before securing the full and complete rights. Then both the risk and reward would be theirs alone.

If they don’t secure the complete rights prior to investment, it’ll simply raise the price down the line and make matters more complicated if other investors try carving out pieces for themselves.
