Machine Games is kinda weird to me, if they been working on Wolfenstein 3 that long then it’s ripe for announcement. If it don’t make an appearance by E3 2022 can we assume it ain’t happening?

Might’ve gone through development troubles or something else. I think it’s a given Wolfenstein 3 is happening, just maybe not as soon as we expect.

Give it time so people forget about it and make it xbox only >>

Covid surely impacted them and it may also have been the first time they decided to make two big games. Indy and wolf 3

Weren’t there rumors of them helping Arkane? Maybe we need a look at the credits on Deathloop lol

Yeaaah I’m not so sure Obsidian will be releasing a game every year for the next 7, but more like they’ll be mostly releasing 7 games in the coming 7 years, where multiple games could come in the same year and still count for the 7, like 2024 could have both Josh Sawyer project and TOW2, like Jez speculated and there could be a year where nothing from Obsidian releases. Grounded although is in production for a few years now already and will be releasing 1.0 in 2022, no idea to what extent they’d further use Early Access with some of these games they have in plan which will make this “one game every year” a bit muddy.

They can go the Insomniac route . Reuse huge amounts of assets from big games to make a small game in less time .

Hmm yeah but I mean, a lot of studios already do reuse a lot of assets (the biggest advantage of doing 3d games haha) but I know what you mean, although that would require the games to still adhere to a base of commonality. Like Spidey ain’t leaving New York for a good while, as such Insomniac can keep iterating and populating an asset library of New York and city based assets in a faster pace. And I’m sure Wolverine will also benefit from this, there shall certainly be a lot of city assets they can just kitbash around and build new environments that will already look kinda ready from the get go.

But Obsidian seems to want to make different kinda games. Grounded is just soooo unlike anything Obsidian has made before, from genre itself to art direction. Stick of Truth was different too, but at least it was still an RPG and had to adhere to the show’s art direction anyway.

But I’m sure there will be an asset library that they maintain with an agnostic enough base in geometry and materials that they can iterate and change as per any art direction requirements they want later. Tools like Substance Painter, Quixel Mixer give a lot of power and flexibility to do this, and I’m sure the studio (which is built on an Unreal Pipeline now anyway) will use that to their advantage.

I have actually been hoping someone could make a list/thread of all the 3rd party day and date launches into Game Pass - hopefully since the service launched.

It would be really cool to track the trends in quantity and quality of these launches over time.

So, I would be all for including The Ascent, etc. But perhaps that would be better in a different thread.

Great summary!

It’s also great that XGS Publishing is picking up speed. Let’s hope that most of it works out, because we learn so early about it there is a risk attached.

Shannon Loftis is not responsible anymore for this department right? Anyone knows who the head is now?

Yes you did.

Apologies.

Not sure if it’s the correct person but didn’t they recently hire jen McLean as GM of creator partnerships?

where can I get info about Project Gravity?

Was’nt this the codename for Forza Street? Iirc Gravity was the name of the antagonist organisation in that game.

Found this Reddit thread discussing it.

It’d be cool if it was a new project from Gravity Well, which itself is a bunch of ex-Respawn devs…but only time will tell if that’s true.
