You mean in regards to Square Enix? Am hoping there do something more with Koei Tecmo, they did good with Atelier but i still think they should try and introduce more games of that series to geenrate attention to the series. The same could not be said for the likes of Level 5, who i think Xbox has to get on board as i do think they have some truly interesting games to give outside Ni No Kuni.
Also am somewhat fearfull of not getting more Spike Chunsoft games in the future with this latest talk about Sony acquiring their parent group alongside Octopath Traveller studio.
I would also suggest people look at the sales figures for most of Sonyās exclusives. Even the most successful ones are sold to a miniscule fraction of their user base.
Basically⦠Iām so sick and tired of the talking heads, and people here, pretending like they represent the majority of games/Xbox players. They certainly donāt, and as someone whoās been a Halo fan even before it was attached to Xbox (therefore an original fan), they sure as hell donāt speak for me.
Then thereās this. The amount of classism in our reporting and even stuff like this shows how disconnected from the everyday-personās financial situation they really are. Game Pass is almost exclusively the reason I was able to play new games this year, so all these takes can miss me with their inability to relate.
Heās not wrong with most of what heās saying here. Gamepass is somewhat of a double edge sword because it makes it easier for a person to leave xbox for Playstation or PC. With gamepass we donāt own games, so thereās no attachment to digital library, which could make move easier. Plus, itās easier now to change ecosystem due to cross progression. Most of the popular live service games has that feature.
I think the tricky aspect is will the gamers that mainly play live service games be affected by this and move platforms? For the most part those people mainly play live service games, and arenāt attached to an ecosystem. They could potentially leave xbox if their friends decide to game on playstation .
Anyway, project latitude is a gamble that could harm the xbox consoles. I donāt think Microsoft in the console space can survive another exodus like they had in the previous 2 gens. Also, unsure how strong of a value proposition is gamepass as a platform if games are elsewhere. I enjoy gamepass, but I am okay with waiting on a sale for certain games. Of course there are Microsoft games I would buy day one like Halo, Gears, Fable, Forza Horizon, Outer Worlds 2, Avowed, and a few others. However, there are many games where I am okay with waiting on a sale or skip like Indiana Jones, Hellblade, Age of Empire, Microsoft Flight, South of Midnight, etc.
Anyway, this move is a gamble on the console side, but on Microsoft gaming side it seems logical if they want to maximize revenue. However, the risk of losing people to ecosystem is huge imo. Interesting times ahead, and I am going to wait and see what their next gen console will look like before I make an irrational move
Thats what business is. You read the tea leaves, make decisions, and hope those decisions pay off. If it does you reap the rewards. If it doesnāt, so be it. A company like MS is far more capable of taking those moon shots because it has a minimal impact on their overall business.
If those moonshots land, they end up in a position few can compete with.
If it fails in totality and the Xbox console dies, they still have a world class development apparatus and make money and the company continues to be worth 3.35 Trillion and the world keeps spinning.
As a consumer that part I donāt care about because I am not a major shareholder. I donāt think theyāre at a point to leave console business because the bulk of gamepass subs are from consoles. You leave consoles, then you lose your gamepass business
No argument or debate here. Game Pass Ultimate IS the reason why I switched from PlayStation (PS4) to Xbox (Series X) and Microsoftās published games lineup is fucking insane. The games that theyāve already given me this generation and the 13 games that im interested in future wise is better than their previous three generations combined. Now, thatās just for me personally. Iām sure that thereās some or plenty who would disagree. But when im getting all these games, im not going to go nuts about their multi-platform strategy because their game output is simply the best itās ever been for me.
I feel that some āinsidersā and Xbox ājournalistsā who unfortunately have somehow taken up the mantle as unofficial mouthpieces for the brand do more harm than good and really, sometimes, should just shut up.
Not trying to be rude or mean or toxic or point out anyone in particular. I just see the same names perpetuating the same speculative negativity that gets ran with across all headlines as fact and they do not learn from their actions.
I wonāt call out name but one only report Xbox when itās multiplatform and quite honestly, I believe he really hates it. Even doing a teehee on year in review report about it. I mean itās the same guy who only reported āthe positive sideā of Bungie layoff alas āmigrating them to work on Sony.ā
One thing I havenāt seen discussed much is how Xbox could have handled this differently.
I strongly believe that if Xbox had rolled out this change in a more positive way with the messaging being something else than corpo talk, suits and frankly odd behaviour at times, a much bigger group of the community would have been onboard sooner.
Imagine something like a big push to rally the users behind the multiplatform strategy. āXbox conquers the worldā sort of thing.
My mind keeps going to announcing the multi-plat shift and launching the open store app policy with Steam, EGS, etc. within a short window of time.
I feel like thatās a tradeoff that makes the Xbox hardware more valuable because it simply gets more games. However, I understand how difficult of a challenge it has to be to try to make that a reality.
Yeah, I think that hurt them a lot. I just think a trillion dollar corp can figure out a better way than how it went down, and still is going down. They should have had a plan before anything leaked anyway.
Xbox is in the entertainment business. Well, entertain us?
(This is a big part of what Iāve been talking about with Xbox being boring)
