I’m not sure what this is exactly, it appears something with steamers and footballers but it seems pretty big in France and Xbox [France] is sponsoring it

According to Wikipedia, it’s a football tournament where Spanish and French YouTubers and streamers are the players.

Stumbled upon this. Xbox in Chile advert with what seems to be a popular TV programme in the country (31 Minutos)

From my observation, outside USA, Microsoft has completely given up on Xbox Series X promotion and they pour all their resources in Series S.

Probably makes sense, because Microsoft realized that due to loss of Xbox One era, they have no chance to recover the hardcore audience in Europe (for example) anymore as PS4/XBO era was the era of BC library building and unlike other gens the transition to the new gen was frictionless - people brought their games to the new consoles. And Xbox One lost exactlly that gen thus people outside USA accumulated games on PS4 mainly.

As they don’t promote Xbox Game Pass that much (mainly PC these days) and use (according to Jez) the word of mouth for that (the same approach as with their surface devices) they are unable to create the impression of a “must have” device. I guess it also contributes to their lack of serious push of Xbox Series X and pivot towards a companion console like Series S which is relatively cheap.

It also does not help that by not promoting Xbox Game Pass and not going after the third party exclusives, they create the impression that Xbox Series has no value (especially when people see it cheaper, people believe that it is a lesser value - like with Apple/Android - if you think of premium, it is about Apple).

I am not sure if that approach is great as EU regulators demonstrated that market share and mind share is important as no matter how small Xbox market share is, regulators want Sony to have popular games.

I hope that their attitude towards marketing and promotion changes, because if the stick to the same stance as right now - even COD in Game Pass won’t help them much to gain market share as people will still go to Playstation simple because it is a “must have” device that has COD anyway.

The be fair to both Xbox and Europe gamers the battle starts in 2023 when Call of Duty enters Gamepass day1 and Bethesda is finally exclusive.

I said this previously…

I picture millions of European casuals in 2023 getting mad at the Europe game journalists and their Sony cultists friends that gave them the advice to buy a PS5 but failed to disclose that Xbox now owns every game company they actually cared about.

CoD won’t enter Game Pass Day 1 until 2024 at least. Sony’s contracts won’t allow that.

ABK was an accident though, I would like to see what would happen if Xbox did not go after ABK.

It remains to be seen if Starfield willl have the same splash as TES or Fallout. Media will certainly try to undermine the game.

I see This is right topic to talk about it, but like ive said today Microsoft needs to announce a direct/SoP like event . They just need to let us know we have an event before E3 about updates and new info about whet we’re working on, so stay tune

Do they though? Currently all the air is sucked by ABK deal and it will keep on delivering.

Yes, they do need direct like events throughout the year . Its been over 12 months since last AAA first or third party exclusive Microsoft game and barley and marketing or updates for game announced. They need to end the whole announce everything at E3 then starve consumers because its not working

Easier said then done.

Takes a long ass time to make vertical slices for these events.

I feel they key for all of these events is Sony or Nintendo having a Game or 2 of their own to show, but allowing partners to do legwork. Ive paid close attention go directs and state if play, but its usually just 2-4 first party games shown and the rest are partners. I feel Microsoft can get away with showing a Game or 2 then leverage gamepass games and partners

No Xbox show till June 2023 and Redfall’s release date will be Twitter + Xbox Wire post. That’s what I’m feeling.

Part of the benefit of the 12 month thing is that the games should be far enough along that it takes less effort to make trailers.

That’s especially true for games coming in H1 2023.

I think is moving away from third party showcases. 2023 will be interesting.

Tweet and an Xbox Wire post? Optimist I see!

Will Twitter still be around then, right???

Oddly, most would be happy with that as long as they give a date lol

Feels like they take 1 step forward & take 2 back all the time. They do great work with the series s over Black Friday then let themselves get hit with a loads of bad PR by showing nothing at the game awards. Making them look 2nd rate.

It’s like thinking isn’t joined up. Marketing games is half arsed through Twitter one region will tweet about a game releasing the other won’t.

High on life is to be released next week on game pass. Very little has been made of it. It’s all just meh.

It’s not that they don’t have the games that bothers me, it’s frustrating for a company the size of them how 2nd rate they can let themselves look & I get there’s the ABK thing in the background but they have read the room wrong if they thought they could get away with showing nothing.
