I agree. It has been good to see positivity and excitement towards Xbox this past week or two.
Not long to go now before we see what Xbox has been cooking.

Got a question, the showcase is already “done”, recorded, and ready to be uploaded right?
Why is all Xbox team moving to Los Angeles i think it was? for the interviews or? What is happening there exactly?
Meet and greet, hanging out with influencers/fans, and more. It’s like Comic Con only with Xbox gaming (first and third party games).
Okay folks, as normal, we’ll turn live chat on for our forum goers and discord avoiders. Expect the live chat box to appear for all members around an hour so before showtime!
BTW congrats to you all on an epic episode yesterday. Just finished watching and it was nuts. Loved the format for community predictions.
Or some discord voice thing? Would love to hear some of the reactions .
That… would almost end the generation in an Xbox W… But the true W would be “Oh and here is a New Conkers… and we bought SEGA. not to make them exclusive but all their past and new games will be on game pass. Also if you hug your xbox, it’ll now purr and vibrate softly. We call it"XCat” and I think you’ll love it".
Those two presenters are a bit… cringe.
YOOOOOOOOO I am hyped

The big day is here. It’s Xbox Showcase 2023. I have been following this brand since the beginning of its run and it’s quite the roller coaster to say the least. When it comes to showcases, it sure have its ups and downs, good and bad, and so on. To me, this showcase seems to be the time where the brand will take the height that I believe Phil has envisioned since 2018.
E3 2018 Conference is regarded by many here, including myself, as one of the best show from Xbox team. The theme wasn’t just on games; it was also the time for Xbox to expand and begin to become a real deal to the world. As fun the show was, it was amazing how Xbox put up an entertaining with far few studios compare today. Many times before, media often regard Xbox Showcase as a third-party showcase; at least based on my history with internet. However, the acquisition and determination from Phil got their attention, which led to headlines like “The far distant future looks promising for Xbox.” One day, they will start to look at Xbox more than a third-party platform.
E3 2019 Conference was more of cleaning up the last remaining games of last-gen and get ready for the future alas Xbox Series. It also included another acquisition; this time, Double Fine. It once again proves Phil is set to expand Xbox as a platform fans and newcomers will be proud to invest. There’s not much to say about the conference, aside from the fact they introduced 2022 Game of the Year. 2020 should have been the time to showcase the new and improved Xbox. Sadly, the unpredictable event happened.
Showcase 2020 was a good show; however, it gave more of a 2019 feel than a feeling of ready to take-off. They have many games already in development, which is great, but is there anything ready for the launch? For that matter, is there any gameplay to show for the games that were announced. The pandemic slowed down the production severely. Same can be said for the third-party titles. On top of that, Halo Infinite, after 2019 great opener, didn’t look ready for launch with its technical issues. Phil’s vision was halted.
Showcase 2021 was a great show; truly gave the sensation of next-gen launch. The acquisition of Bethesda was a huge surprise, yet very assuring that Phil’s vision of expansion remained strong. Therefore, witnessing Starfield stapled as Xbox exclusive was massive. There are more games ready to release, more announced titles from first-party studios, and all in all very entertaining show. Halo Infinite looked a lot better and hyped this time around and Forza Horizon 5 got everyone buzzing. It felt like Xbox was ready to go all in; or so they hoped.
Showcase 2022 was an entertaining show; however, I would argue that it was an anti-selfish gaming show. Before I get attacked, it’s fine to be selfish; I too am one. I would like to see games that are further than second half of 2023. That said they did deliver the promise of gameplay showcase, aside from Ark 2, so give credit where its due. Plus, I remember general consensus was that it was still at least B rated showcase, which is like 8 out of 10. That all being said Xbox team had to find a way to pull off a good show under the circumstance that they have nothing until 2023. To me, they did a good job on it; sadly, there are titles that ended up passing the 12 months range goal.
Now we come to Showcase 2023. You can see the process and roadblocks and how those shows will differ greatly to this year. Xbox in the past couldn’t pull a Sony Showcase; not because of moneyhatting but because of foundation. Sony had more studios than Xbox, so they’re already into high gear with the development. That’s why they can branch out more like have Uncharted 4 for 2016, Horizon for 2017, and God of War 2018. Xbox can finally achieve that and actual proof will be today.
It can be more than just a third-party platform, now that their first-party side has greatly expanded, and it’s not stopping anytime soon. Speaking of third-party, their relationship has also gotten stronger and some would be considered as reformation since some did have a fallout. There’re also new friendship along the way, reminiscing to Square Enix back when they finally got Final Fantasy titles starting with XIII, only this time is with Atlus. Will there be more new friendship? The chance is up there.
The last thing I want to address is the possible drawbacks within the studios. People love to hard press on the negativity so much that it is actually concerning mentally speaking. Anyway, people would like to point at Halo Infinite despite solid launch and Redfall. The point they should know is 343i was formed under the old Xbox team, so the whole reconstruction within was a necessary task despite the unfortunate consequences of releasing workers. Redfall was revealed to be Zenimax game under the mindset of easy money, trend chasing phase. While perhaps it could have been helped, what’s done is done. The big drawbacks are out. It’s now all on Phil’s vision.
Truth be told, I feel that there are more to be said, but as the time is coming close, I want to say thank you for reading this far. This brand means a lot to me and seeing it evolved over time is quite the adventure itself. The time to rise up is here.
Hope everyone has the show they’ve been dreaming of. I’ll be sleeping at that time (im in HK) and have to work tomorrow, so I’ll have to catch up later.
Have a great showcase everyone!!!
Nothing new(major) had leaked so far. Nice!
We definitely talked about this here a little, and the description says xbox and Bethesda games. Don’t think it’s a big deal but feel like naming the whole thing Xbox makes it easier anyway. When they get ABK, I’d still hope they call it xbox showcase for the whole thing.
I’ve got a question. I remember last year Phil Spencer saying what basically we could expect at the showcase in terms of gameplay and stuff, but I don’t know if it was the day before or the day of the showcase itself. If so, will Phil do something similar right before the show ?
Once again, it seems no one knows a damn thing about Marketing, specifically Branding 101. When you have an acquisition the first few years you use both brand names, then you use the new main dominate brand. In this case you use Bethesda along with Xbox to associate the two. Then after enough time you only use Xbox even if it has Bethesda content.
When they get ABK it would be Xbox And Activision for the first few years before fading into normalcy of simply being Xbox.
