Xbox Games Showcase & Starfield Direct |OT| SPOILER FREE

You can bet your ass that all eyes will be on Starfield and the media and people in general will be ready to critique it. Some will complain that it isn’t what they thought it would be.

But then you could just say that they only got themselves to blame. Todd has been very clear what it is. Skyrim in space in all the best ways. Obviously with much needed improvements all around. And I definitely expect it will have new things too, but I hope nobody goes making up a game in their head Todd never say it would be.

Looking back at 2022 show, Klobrille has shown a GIF where most games have been released.

Forza, ARA and Starfield will probably 3 month late. And SilkSong and other indies, how can MS predict a 3rd party advancement. Stalker 2 is late, but who can blame this year Ukrainiens developers to be late ?

Some people will expect another game. Skyrim is not God of War or Witcher, Starfield will not be Mass Effect or No Man Sky.

What is Project Kestrel by ZOS? I remember Jez talking about a Project Wyrmwood by ZeniMax Online Studios.

Kestrel is presumably the new sci-fi IP they’ve been working on for the past few years

It is probably to Starfield what ESO was to Skyrim.

If it works, it would be extremely money printing. The kind of games everybody plays outside the “hardcore forums” but nobody talk about inside the “hardcore forums”.

Is there a list of Xbox announced games (with dates and some extra info on progression) alongside rumour games as a timeline?

This would make it rather clear as to what to expect.

Another thought, if Hellblade, Avowed, Forza, Starfield hadn’t yet been announced until this show I think people would say it was amazing (all out before July next year). Timing is key.

Yes, they will probably say they are overdue.

  • Starfield (BGS, started dev 2016, announced 2018, trailer June 2021, gameplay June 2022, releasing September 2023)
  • Forza Motorsport (Turn 10, announced July 2020, gameplay June 2022, releasing 2023)
  • Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga (Ninja Theory, started dev 2017, announced December 2019, gameplay December 2021)
  • Avowed (Obsidian, started dev 2017-2018, announced July 2020)
  • The Outer Worlds 2 (Obsidian, started dev 2019, announced June 2021)
  • State of Decay 3 (Undead Labs, announced July 2020)
  • Untitled Indiana Jones (MachineGames/Todd Howard, announced January 2021)
  • Fable (Playground, started dev 2017/2018, announced July 2020)
  • Contraband (XGS Publishing/Avalanche, started dev 2017-2018, announced June 2021)
  • Perfect Dark (The Initiative/Crystal Dynamics, started dev 2018, announced December 2020, Crystal partnership announced September 2021)
  • Everwild (Rare, announced November 2019, trailer July 2020)
  • Project Mara (Ninja Theory, announced 2019)
  • Untitled Kojima Cloud Game (Kojima Productions/XGS Publishing, announced June 2022)
  • Ara: History Untold (Oxide Games/XGS Publishing, announced June 2022)
  • The Elder Scrolls VI (BGS, announced 2018)

I think that’s everything unreleased that has been announced.

Edit: Forgot Contraband.

Edit: Forgot Kojima and Ara.

The myth, the legend, thank you.

No worries!

Orders of magnitude more announced games than any other first party (or many other publishers, period).

Indiana Jones gameplay trailer.

The crazy thing about that list of announced games is that I really think the majority of them will be out by the end of 2025 (not TES VI obviously).

Some corrections:

  • Compulsion’s game isn’t an RPG. It’s a singleplayer third person action adventure game (per Jez)
  • inXile’s game is Project Cobalt, a first-person steampunk RPG (per Jez). They also have a second game in early dev
  • Age of Empires 4 is already out
  • Quake reboot is not rumoured or leaked, just speculated
  • Stoic’s game is codenamed Project Belfry. The Wandering Tower is the final title (per Jez)
  • Certain Affinity are working on Project Suerte, a Monster Hunter-like game, with XGS Publishing
  • The Elder Scrolls VI is missing

Would love for a new Viva Piñata game to be honest. Funny you actually mention it as I actually booted the game not too long ago on the good old Xbox 360 no less to show it to my kids and we played for like an hour or so.

It does hold up well I’ll give it that, wonder if a small studio could bring it back in some fashion.

Also, lists like that always remind me how much there is coming out and I can’t help but laugh at the fact some people are worried we aren’t getting anything and that Xbox is doomed. How can we have so much stuff in the pipeline and yet people assume we will never get any games?

I started playing viva piñata again the other week & it’s still a lot of fun.

Yeah this list makes me feel confident and comfortable with what’s to come. I’ll update it again closer to E3 and again after.
