Xbox Game Studios |OT9| How many games would a game studio make if a game studio could make games?

Cod brought out the stars. imagine this with a available day 1 on Xbox Gamepass in the future. Xbox will be the cool console again like in the 360 era.

Yeah, COD marketing is really cool. Hope Microsoft will learn something from ABK.

Game Pass grossing 2.9 billion, at 25M subscribers this averages out to roughly $10 a month per user (average)

Yup. Double Disney+. Except the twist is this is Game Pass Console. Where Game Pass PC and Ultimate factor in is unclear. Average GP user spends more in ecosystem too. MS is in a healthy place and just getting started.

The data likely also includes Xbox Live Gold. How could Sony have 40-50%? Unless Microsoft doing funny math to make their position look better.

I think since Sony merged subs, their sub count gets compared directly to game pass. While Gold is just its own thing.

Overwatch 2 now the 3rd most played game in US, UK and JP. Multiversus has left the top 50 also.

Chivalry 2 appears too.

Poor Multiverse.

It’s why I think initial launch numbers are so overrated, especially with a free game.

It’s all about the longevity, not your launch numbers.

Will be interesting to see whether it keeps up with the usual suspect f2p/gaas giants long-term. On paper, it really should.

Any word on Xbox supporting steam with GamePass on steam deck (not cloud)??

I’d love to pick up a steam deck if it means I can play GamePass titles portably without needing internet connection

I was watching someone play Ori and it’s a reminder, there is no way MS can let that IP die. I don’t know if Moon is the only team that could do that franchise justice but that’s truly one of the best new franchises MS has.

If not Moon, someone else should make it.

The story is over though. If they made another one, it would need to be very different or risk just being a retread of the first two games. With how many games they have now vs when Ori was coming out, I think it’s fine to leave it be and work on future titles which could be the NEXT Ori (i.e. The Wandering Tower from Stoic).

Also, yeah, I would rather Xbox not work with Moon again given their issues, and I don’t know what other studio could handle Ori (Team Cherry maybe but they’re busy). Maybe the future of Ori could be a 3D platformer.

it’s perfect as 2D, and I get the story is over in that we know how it ends but, they can certainly fill in some story in between the two games. Or maybe a soft reboot with another character/creature (Ku?)

That’s been my theory, that Ku would be the star of a third game. “Ku and the Search for Ori” or something.

I’d love to see it but I also think Ori is the sort of IP that could be left alone for a while. You don’t want to risk people souring on it because it’s one of the few sources of first party goodwill from the Xbox One generation.

Probably a bit more. Over 2021 they had not 25 millions subscribers on average, only at the end.

Thank god Bethesda, Obsidian and inXile are all under the same roof now. I love hearing Tim, Leonard, Brian and Fergus talk about the origins of the series.
