lol
deal is 50/50 guys. It either goes through or it doesn’t!
Sorry folks, genuinely thought TimDog was an OK source.
I do remember that Phil follows him, iirc, but of course that doesn’t mean he knows stuff.
If I may; a simple thought experiment.
Replace the words Indiana Jones with Star Wars and the words fist fight with lightsaber battles.
1995 would like a word.
Staffy, you honestly need to cool it a bit when it comes to posting stuff from other places, because the majority of the time it is just random people like me and you with no real insight.
While they are at it, Microsoft should grab Ubisoft + Square Enix. 15b for both. Special offer with premium
listening to speculation on the status of the deal is pretty pointless. The only people that will know are select few ABK/MS employees and maybe some Gov’t employees. Only when paperwork is filed and made public can some analysis be drawn from someone like Hoeg I guess, but even then that’s just speculation in the end.
Just need to patient with it.
It would be straight BS if the deal doesn’t go through but I wonder if Microsoft went too big here, I know at that price ABK was a great deal and they couldn’t pass it up but it’s gonna look bad if it gets blocked and also if it doesn’t get blocked it’s gonna be harder to acquire another publisher again small or big.
I’ll promise I’ll think twice from now on, only when it’s about information like this and news they can’t really know.
You will see a “joke” post by me now and then where someone makes fun of ponies though , and I don’t mean the lovely animals.
All in good fun, always!
Microsoft will just sue the government. Microsoft is playing nice with the government, I don’t believe that governemnt officials won’t reciprocate considering that they even cannot tackle Facebook, Apple and Amazon (and Microsoft is kinda on government side). Last thing they need is having a hostile Microsoft too.
Just so you know, I am not having a ‘go’ at you, but it’s something I have noticed for a while and thought I should mention something.
Hopefully they fight hard here, I mean I know we shouldn’t hope for big buyouts like this from corporations but this looks like one of the few instances when it could turn out to be a good thing.
I never understood the stance regarding “consolidation is bad” or “we should not hopy for big acquisitions”. If you think that you will benefit from it - why limit your own support on that? It is like a position “I hope Microsoft won’t acquire more publishers”. Why? You want to pay 70$ games or what?
I am personally fine with any acquisition as it improves Game Pass offering. Even if it suddenly becomes 20$ per month if Game Pass has all Square Enix games, Ubisoft games, Bethesda games, Activision games…Who cares? It is still much cheaper and you can subscribe whenever you want. Pay 20$ for a month and complete the game. Then ubsubscribe.
It is funny but technically Microsoft could leverage the mass media to gain support for the deal. And the public perception will be on their side. Microsoft want to resolve the internatl ABK issues and give wider and cheaper access to gaming. Cannot get better than that
Don’t worry, sometimes it’s good to have someone just notify you of things.
Sometimes I post a full twitter conversation and then it includes a “nobody” too, and I don’t always mention that.
I don’t disagree with you really and as long as they offer both the option to buy their games and subscribe to Gamepass then we’re good but eventually one single manufacturer owning everything can probably lead to some bac business practices but as long as there is healthy competition I think it’s going to be alright but hey having almost every game I care about at launch on GP would be fantastic for me, for example last year I played the Halo Infinite campaign and FH5 without having to pay 120$, that alone was just amazing, some years ago that wouldn’t have been the case.
Edit: As someone who mainly plays on Xbox like 99% of the time, I did have a PS4 for a while and will eventually buy a PS5 and subscribe to Sony’s Gamepass once they have their Last of us 2, God of war 1 and 2, Ratchet, Uncharted etc but anyway as someone who was getting screwed last gen by Sony’s deals a bit I’ve been quite satisfied with Xbox buying some studios and publishers, especially Bethesda, when there was a rumor that Sony was negotiating Starfield exclusivity I was very disappointed but thankfully we won’t be missing out.
But that’s the thing - when bad practices are invovled then government can intervene and that’s fine.
I added some more stuff to my last post, I’, not really against Microsoft buying a few more studios, I think Certain affinity and Asobo would fit well, although maybe being hypocritical here I hope nobody acquires Fromsoft, I love Elden Ring so hope they stay independent.
You was dissappointed but I was pretty pissed. I never had sympathy to Playstation community and starting from this gen I lost even more so at this point I only care about Game Pass value.
Well disappointed is my polite wording for it lol, I was also quite mad just thinking I might miss out on the next big Bethesda game
Yeah, I was pretty much pissed at Playstation’s audacity to go after Xbox associated IPs. Especially considering that Microsoft did not even try to touch any Japanese IPs that Sony used to have or associated with Playstation. But going after Xbox IPs? Was too much for me.
