This would be big ending the last few months with this Starfield Redfall and FM would be nice
What I don’t understand is why there is such panic whenever there is rumors of troubled development? Nothing ever works out perfectly. When I first joined the movie industry a mentor told me “It takes alot of blood sweat and tear to just make a bad movie”. It’s not easy…
Ok just saw the windows central video.
The way people out there who blew out of proportion this situation is…sigh…
Maybe others have made note of this too, but my confidence in Perfect Dark being something cool that I should be excited about is much higher after seeing that they are hiring a “Franchise Director”. They don’t bring in Crystal Dynamics and plan to hire a franchise director if they aren’t shooting for this being a high-quality gaming experience for this IP with a strong female lead.
Seems like the issues at The Initiative and with Perfect Dark may be behind them and that it wasn’t as dramatic as some people tried to make it seem.
Jez says that for the first time, they’re now moving towards a common goal and the game is actually moving forward.
I.E. never going to happen unfortunately.
Just different types of work experience I guess.
Last two years or so have been hell for me. Every time someone just points to bad management without considering the circumstances it makes me want to roll my eyes lol.
I agree. And it would definitely be a huge boost for Halo Infinite as well which it definitely could use.
Halo campaign content this year would be huge.
Don’t think they can change the contract worker situation. It dates back a decade or more at Microsoft after it was revealed that contract workers were kept on indefinitely without paying out the extras like medical insurance and was a way for the company to keep costs down. I think it’s one of the reasons they use a lot of out sourcing to support studios as they can then just sign a contract for the duration of the project
Best post surrounding the situation.
What difference does it make what’s in the Initiative.
All this news only suggests that the game will be released in the year 25, at best. It’s even more ridiculous that Wolverine will most likely come out before this game, even though it was announced almost two years later.
This is all, of course, not very critical, given the number of games that will be released soon, but I was interested in Perfect Dark sooner rather than later
Not everything needs to be a direct comparison to Sony.
Don’t care about Sony
But, this is one of the few expensive games that somehow uses the stealth genre. And now you have to wait God knows how long
I don’t see how 2025 is the “at best” case for Perfect Dark. Both CD and CA are working on it supposedly and unless they are completely rebooting it IMO 2025 is at worst.
Maybe if it was open world but if it’s mission structured or even hub based I don’t see how they’d need 3 full years plus the time spent on what was already built (2+ years or so)
It seems to me that Andy Robinson pretty much only spoke to people who left the studio, so he only got one side of the story. It’s like I said, his story verged too much on speculation in the end, and it appears he should have reached out to more people currently working on the game to get a better picture, which it seems is what Jez has done.
So we’re very likely gonna see a way different TI after PD releases than they had originally planned, possibly? That might even be a good thing.
I’m not even worried, there is no point at all in worrying so much over something we have no control over anyway, worrying all the time gets me nowhere and it’s headache inducing.
Now that we’ve learned a bit more about The Initiative & how they were trying to operate, I’m kinda glad people left & they got Crystal Dynamics in to help steer, while course correcting their own ship.
Like yeah, just be a normal studio with a focused team & good people to lead them. This works for a reason
What I’m noticing is that there’s one camp that goes
“oh sure, have the studio that made Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Avengers help out …great idea. And Rise was only good at the start and bogged down soon.”
And the other camp is “They made Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider, good news.”
Only one camp is right, because Rise of the Tomb Raider was great from start to finish, they didn’t make Shadow, even though during the splash screens we see their logo. Avengers started off as a great game in the prologue but I blame SE for the other part of the game, the game should have never been like that.
Besides CD made so much more than just Tomb Raider and Rise, I saw they made Gex back in the day, Samurai Showdown, Legacy of Kain, Tomb Raider Legend and Underworld and really…so much more.
Boy do I want these folks under XGS.
This is something I’ve speculated about since the delay of co-op was announced. What if co-op was designed to be a secondary campaign, taking place before/after the events of Halo Infinite?
The main campaign was designed to be a very personal story for Chief and the one shot narrative structure added to that. A co-op campaign, with it’s own story and characters (or your own Spartans), would be an interesting take for the Halo franchise. As far as games go, it wouldn’t be the first to have a separate co-op story (see Splinter Cell: Conviction).
