Xbox Game Studios |OT8| Leaving The Drought Behind And Heading For Starfield

It’s kind of ironic since Klobrille made some comments on the Xbox fanbase’s news addiction last year. A real failure in practising what you preach.

I don’t know why we still talk about this is it’s something completely always under their control, when in reality they probably just don’t have the luxury to control what and when to show things as 1st party is still not there production and output wise. That’s why we say what we say that they should continue the momentum with significant Game Pass deals, which is something they, Inexplicably, haven’t been doing.

Yeah, we don’t really want a repeat of Halo’s showcase in 2020.

Ummm did people forgot that MS announced the biggest video game news in the last decade just last month or I am missing something?

I see some people on this board and elsewhere insinuating that Microsoft is not releasing anything before the last half of the year on purpose. It’s beyond ridiculous. Like we have Microsoft explicitly stating they are trying to ship a big game every quarter, but no it’s definitely MS holding games back for a big holiday period.

Got to agree. Xbox had a good E3 showing last year but the other shows they were involved with had a lot of filler because there just wasn’t a lot to show off. It’s been reported repeatedly that the pipeline doesn’t really kick in till 2023 and all that’s been announced for 2022 is starfield and redfall while forza motorsport and the josh sawyer project are rumoured

PS struggled with SoP as some can be deemed as pointless, especially the last couple of them in the last half of the year. They at least did it right with an “overview” of GT7. Do it now would be fine, but I only expect third party and indies. If lucky, GoW. Other than that, when it comes to new games announcement, you would have to wait for Showcase. Only Nintendo know how to do so and set expectations.

What will happen with Xbox?

(which should be the slogan of this forum)

The issue with that news was the same thing that happened with Zenimax - it’ll take a WHILE to go through and we might not see an immediate impact even when it does go through.

Gamers hungry for news think in days and weeks, not months and years.

Let’s just hope that’s truly the case and not that MS is just this deadset on “E3”. Say for example they can show a new trailer of one upcoming XGS game and also have a trailer of Dark Tide and As Dusk Falls? Throw in a few more third party trailers and you’d have a interesting enough update on games with their own Direct styled stream.

Starfield I get, that’s the big “E3” thing, Redfall is anyone’s guess, but could still be a thing for that show too and a release in summer or a little after.

As Dusk Falls is supposed to be their next release based on ESRB rating and speculated release window. Doing a media blitz for that game in the middle of Horizon and Elden Ring month is a waste. Bethesda put out an 18-minute gameplay trailer for Ghostwire just 2 weeks ago and even that felt like ages ago. It’s better to just sit tight and wait for an opening.

I mean… dev interview is a thing. Not necessarily showing gameplay and pics and all. Like what Ninja Theory did weeks ago. What. Even things like a few QAs with a journo or a small tidbit on Xbox Wire they aren’t even ready (read: not bother)?. Their passion on developing the game, difficulty using certain engine, like… anything.

Let’s be honest, people want to see the games

oh you know ill be sending this guy some info

Nothing will happen with Xbox and that is absolutely fine.

If even always super positive fans are a bit underwhelmed by this start of the year, maybe we aren’t all madmen. XD

The only news was ABK, but firstly this is another “wait for” news and secondly they immediately muddied it with the usual corporate/big tech crap.

I think the average Xbox fan only wants a " new normal", with news and shows during the year, not silence for 95% of the time, E3 and something for Geoff at TGA.

This inconsistent pace also hinders their polar star, which is GP growth.

MS can’t make third party games appear on GP no matter how much money they offer, and if the games aren’t ready they shouldn’t be shown. And you guys complain about dev interviews that don’t show gameplay (see: Starfield).

Yep, gonna do that too.

Yeah I wonder what it’s gonna take for this to change. Take Shadow Warrior 3 for example, I think that’s AAA? I sure consider it as one, it’s possible that this is one game MS didn’t try to get, but I sure would have liked it on Game Pass.

Starfield will be 98mc if we talk about open world which is what I see that stands out most about Elden Ring
