Well, it would be nice if they had some roadmap regarding the games or something. Similar to what Disney does.
No more like “We want Day 1 on GamePass, you keep marketing and perks, and we’ll make the new Crash game multi and let you have marketing”
So it becomes more mobile-like. Nothing surprising
Well yeah, but again, can’t act like you got it until you actually got it. Waiting is a pain, but get in line.
Wait…
MW2? So like the remake of MW, this is a remake of MW2?
It’s a sequel to 2019 MW.
MW (2019) 2.
The sequel to the reboot.
A seboot if you will.
That’s a pretty bad deal for a company you spent 70b on
‘so you want us to advertise GP, when we have spartacus? not happening’
since sony would have marketing, MS wouldnt be able to market COD going into GP
Eh, been hearing this for ages. Premium and GaaS and f2p and subscriptions and all those models can coexist and thieve with all having the potential to be successful.
It’s be even worse to have one of the key pillars of your casual GamePass push tied up to possibly 2026.
Good good.
But I think I was wrong anyway, even MW was a new game in terms of missions, locations etc, right?
so the party line will be “MS killed retail gaming” if this has an impact or “MS got nothing to do with the delay” if it doesn’t
right?
I mean owning a company for 2 to 3 years and not having it’s key IP as Day 1 on GamePass is just a non-starter.
Bethesda was finalized in 2021 and Starfield and Redfall are scheduled for this year. That’s at least 1 year from aquiring to return with GamePass benefits.
Activision with CoD would be possibly 3 to 4 YEARS without a Day 1 GamePass new CoD.
No way Microsoft doesn’t try to move heaven and earth to correct that.
And it is slowly happening. A lot of franchises are generating 70% money from MTX and slowly pivot to F2P as you can bring more players that way that will spend more money in game,.
Sooner or later people will start asking the questions regarding why they pay 70$ upfront too. It is just for now the subscription services (Game Pass specifically) do not have enough marketing - when more people become aware of 15$ per month for a lot of big Day 1 games - it will lead to change.
Contract was for 3 COD games. Nothing can be done there.
Yes Prog I think that too but I also think it’s too early to talk about it anyway
I refuse to believe as the owner of the IP you can’t amend a contract and pay some concessions.
There can be leading and more dominant models for sure but I don’t think the full price “premium” model is going anywhere either. Are theatrical releases going anywhere? Are Blu-rays and DVDs and digital ownerships? Nah
