Seeing as how MS doesn’t own them yet i imagine so.
I don’t think so.
I highly doubt that they did have this idea before Microsoft wanted to buy them.
Luck could only get you this far.
Dunno got them pretty ing far already.
Well, it got Sony quite far away.
Anyways,
Microsoft will probably have to sit back down to ammend the contract with concessions because no way in hell does Microsoft sit by and let new CoD games skip GamePass until 2025/2026
I get wanting to honor contracts but at some point you gotta change some shit.
Deathloop and Tokyo Ghostwire were one thing, but we’re talking a key pillar of your casual push MIA until 2025/2026.
Don’t care, my head canon is that Phil influenced this.
At this point we don’t know.
I am pretty sure that the acquisition influenced their decision. EA did not delay BF2024, why would ATVI - who is well known for not that great working culture too - would delay COD?
I mean we don’t, but I can’t imagine a scenario where Microsoft just throws up their hands and says “Oh well nothing we can do!”
A contract is only as good as the paper it’s written on and you can also get new paper.
I personally don’t have any desire to give Sony any new game that would require additional years of support on Playstation platform. Though for now we don’t know the plans of Microsoft for their Game Pass alternative and place of GaaS game there. Especially from the acquired publishers.
CoD releases yearly since 2005 (there was a year with TWO CoDs), then MS announce they’re acquiring Activision, with Phil already suggesting they’d look into CoD being no longer annual… And we’re supposed to not think MS has something to do with it, ok. Whether directly, or for the fact that not releasing CoD annually could be a risk that the shareholders are willing to take now because they don’t have to actually deal with it… because it’d be MS’s responsibility by then.
I didn’t say it would be short, just a limit.
It’s going to be a long wait for acquisition to happen. Everything aside from delays or contract is up for speculation. We really need a roundtable to clarify many things on the acquisition. Forget what they have now, they’re set. Here, it is necessary to say something.
Is this like actually soon or Obsidian “We have more to share on Avowed soon which is actually turning into next Summer E3 2022 Time” Soon?
I wish COD had its own “first party” thread, its rough seeing a bunch of new posts in this thread and then realizing that none of them are really about first party games.
Well, a lot of it won’t bear fruit until 2025.
Even so, a guide would be necessary to be aware of for years to come.
microsoft: we want to change marketing.
Sony: yeah… no change
seems easy situation for no change
Blegh.
Keep the receipt then.
