Xbox Game Studios |OT8| Leaving The Drought Behind And Heading For Starfield

I’m sure Tencent would beat Sony to that :joy: also why would Sony do that when most of their studios use there own engines

Do any of their studios even use the unreal engine? I don’t think this is happening

Only Bend iirc

But no one’s even saying this is something possibly or in any universe happening, it’s a stupid joke :skull:

UE5 is exclusive to PS5, didnt you know it’s only possible on that magic machine?

I hope gears never changes. Every game is just a liner set piece with great encounters. It’s what I loved about hive busters. It seems like all other games now need to be open world. Screw that. Let gears be gears. I think thats why I love 4 so much. It was gears concentrated.

Bend will be using decima for their next project.

I don’t even blame Sony for not using UE like that, their in house engines just look so much better lol.

Their in-house engines are also what the studios are also used to anyway. And look, engines don’t “look so much better” automatically or magically, they’re just tools, the people making the games make them look good, not the tools themselves.

Whatever it is that they’re doing, just keep on doing it lol, that’s all I got on the topic.

This is interesting. Decima seems like it has some multipurpose-ness. It was used for Until Dawn, and Death Stranding.

I just think it’s nothing to do with the engines directly. They’re just tools. It’s more the available resources, talent, time, freedom to collaborate and polish things up that makes a difference, not the engines necessarily. When people romanticize the idea of engines they kinda dismiss the great work of artists working on the games.

Possibly, I do think certain engines have strengths and weaknesses though for certain genres.

Yeah FR, and I think Tim Sweeney would dropkick the Sony exec trying to buy him out lol. He is as Anti corporate as they come. Plus Sony does not want a war with Tencent, with them having 40% equity.

even if sony bought epic unreal engine would be made available to everyone as that is the business of epic. Microsoft owns Havok and tons of studios still use it. You can find it used on Nintendo and Sony games as well xbox and PC games.

they will be under Phil (CEO of MS Gaming) for now only time would tell.

Locking UE goes against the idea and the advantage of UE.

And will be a chance for another engine to take its place.

Not to mention that would very clearly be anti competitive. Regulators would look and see that massive swaths of independent developers in addition to the larger publishers use it. By taking that away from independent developers especially, they would raise the barrier to entry in the industry and potentially put large numbers of developer companies out of business.

Any attempt to buy epic will be with the condition the engine stays available as it is today.

HOTS is dead if you want Moba then the last two remaining is LOL and Dota 2.
