Xbox Game Studios |OT8| Leaving The Drought Behind And Heading For Starfield

If we get these kinds of areas in the game

Christian Bale Swag GIF

Do hope for some dark areas too but im not worried about that based on the first trailer

first one is set in Dyrwood, DLC in the White March

the world of Eora is kinda “free flowing”, there are no accurate maps because

in game lore : the hand occult keeps the world “secret”

irl: they didn’t want to limit themselves

I agree that’s importan have a preview of the generation to come, but together with games announced at TGA or even before (Everwild, HB2 and Perfect Dark), there are ~7-8 2023-2024-ish games announced between 2019-2020, which gives us an average of 4 years early announcements (we could also add Project Mara and Indy, but the first is an unknown quantity and second it’s 99% on Bethesda), which is a long time imo (almost Crackdown 3 level). Fortunately last E3 they focused on 2021-22 releases, because balance was needed.

I understand the sentiment that Xbox has some games far out. But compared to Sony where only one studio Insomniac seems to be making current gen games it’s quite the contrast. Like Sony isn’t even pretending to hype the PS5 anymore. Would you rather Xbox do that?

Sony will have their next gen games, we still don’t know about Naughy Dog, the next Sucker Punch game, the next Bend game and any 3rd party partnership they’ll have, also they already released 2/3 (Demons Souls is a toss up, it’s difficult to consider it a next gen game lol), while MS only one and even as a late port (Flight Sim) and possibly we’ll see AoE 4 this year. The difference here is that milking PS4 makes sense, while MS wants to forget X1 as soon as they can. XD

Demon’s Souls looks very next gen. It’s a stunning game imo.

PS5 strategy is 1-2 games a year. Xbox strategy is 4-5 games a year. The announcements and number of studios reflect this. It’s just the reality that some people choose to ignore.

What even is this post. “Sony have a lot of unannounced games in pipelines but lemme tell you that Xbox will have this and that for this year”. Journos and peeps including xbox fans themselves were blasting MS for supporting X1 for the 1st and 2nd year and suddenly we are cool and dandy with Sony backtracking their “we believe in generation” statement.

No wonder that Sony’s mindshares is still quite strong when such statement didn’t backfire them but rather peeps calling it a “genius”/“just an usual business nothing to see here” move.

Sony during a good year will have 3-4 exclusives

I thought of this before and still do now. It’s why I believe Sony is pulling more investment to new studios and moneyhat third party because they didn’t have that many studios to produce games to gather up more than 2 per year. They have more now, though seems like some will be on VR. They were comfortable when they had no competition. That story has changed.

If at the Series X/S event in 2020, MS had only announced the 2021 games, the media with their sensationalism would say that it would be another generation with Halo + Forza + Gears and more low-budget games.

Xbox announced games far out because they had to. It was that or nothing.

It’s a PS3 game with a new coat of paint, that’s the thing, like the upcoming Dead Space.

The point is that Xbox cannot and should not copy Sony bad moves (like announcing things too early or saying controversial things) because they have not enough clout. In general announcing games too early is not that great, Phil Spencer himself said it, not me, I don’t think it’s a controversial thing to say.

PS5 only has 1 studio insomniac officially announcing games. Xbox should seize the moment. Like another poster pointed out Sony has only themselves to blame for this disparity. Sony entered the generation talking about generations. You seem to think Sony will keep pace with Xbox and release 4-5 AAA first party games but I’m here to tell you that disappointment is headed your way. It’s obvious by announcements and the number of studios working on current gen projects.

K. It looks great. Like a current gen game.

They’ll keep pace through moneyhats which Xbox doesn’t seem able to counter, it’s not already obvious? It started with Deathloop, in 2022 we’ll have Forspoken and Ghostwire, then FF16, Kotor and who knows what else. Their deals last from 1 year to infinite, not 2-3 months, so fo yearly line-ups are equal to full exclusives.

I want to see some fake brands and advertisements in State of Decay 3 to make the world feel more real, similar to how Fallout has Sugar Bombs and Nuka Cola + ads for brands on decaying bill boards.

Even Postal 2 was able to capture this better than State of Decay 2.

I hope we get a bunch more cross game easter eggs
