Xbox Game Studios |OT8| Leaving The Drought Behind And Heading For Starfield

I think as gamers we all have blind spots. I have a 6 year old son, so Roblox is very much on my radar. Even if I don’t spend money on the game itself, there is still clothing (my son got a Roblox hat for Christmas) and toys. There is even Roblox spin-off toys like “piggy”. Also so many YouTube videos with Roblox. Mobile games are popular too because they can be trendy, Squid Games and “red light green light” have been a big trend forever lately but I still haven’t seen too many squid games toys or clothing in stores yet.

And bringing up Roblox doesn’t even derail/deflate the original argument(just wanna address this real quick). Was Roblox a generational defining game? When I bring up “generational defining” I also mean innovations or “new standards.” Like Gears series was the new standard for third person shooters for a while. That’s why its 2006 impact was huge.

Based on the few things we heard about Starfield and Creation Engine 2, its going to bring new things to open world western RPGs, especially when it comes to explorations.

They should go all in on Shang Chi. It’d be huge in the US but also internationally.

Lots of moving parts when it comes to gaming these days. Retro gamers, free to play gamers, YouTube / Twitch streamers, Roblox, Minecraft, mobile games, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Gamepass, Sony cult, bias game media, click bait articles/ videos/ tweets, the list goes on lol

I’m not sure why you think it’s in your best interests to keep pushing an issue you’ve been talked to about multiple times. There is literally a thread made for you to say what you want, stick to that.

Many hires, new studios, etc…but when the game release is projected? I am still honestly attracted by a possible AAA SoD with a real and big budget campaign this time, I just scratched the surface with the first two because I don’t like much janky games. Another FAR too early announcement imo, every game announced in 2020 was 2023 at the earliest (bar maybe FM), very Sony-like. XD

am i the only one that is concerned about avowed being too colorful , for me outer worlds was already too colorful , pillars of eternity had the perfect atmosphere for a game with that kind of story , dark , mysterious , mature

Theres always a saturation slider you can set on your tv or monitor if its too colorful for you.

I wonder if Starfield is going to have its own equivalent of VATS. BGS has never been too great with gunplay, and while it was a lot better in Fallout 4 compared to 3 it still had some ways to go before it got really good. One of the reasons I used VATS so much in Fallout 4.

i dont think thats how it works

as much as you would decrease the saturation the place would still looks colorful

Yeah when Jez said the game looked colorful it was sure surprising. That debut trailer gave off a very realistic, dark tone. That gameplay part which apparently wasn’t gameplay didn’t look overly colorful and it does seem that is what they are, or maybe we’re going for.

I’m sure it will be fine, but man we need to see something of it, for real.

Avowed takes place on the mainland The Living Lands is a continent renowned for its biodiversity, phosphorescent plants, rock crystals, wildlife like wyverns and huge creatures. Which doesn’t mean that there won’t be Darker Zones like Mordor with armies of skeletons, dungeons that go underground …

Concretely this is what The Living Lands looks like

Great info, I didn’t play the Pillars games. Where was set the first one? I assume the second was in the Deadfire islands like the title would suggest. XD

God, that artwork is fantastic.

I’m okay with the early announcements, I appreciate knowing what’s coming this generation from Xbox. Hype is important at the beginning of a new console so it’s actually pretty insane when you contrast Xbox with PlayStation because I’m not sure what current gen games Sony has other than Spider-Man and Wolverine. Compare that with Xbox where they have about 10 current gen only games announced. I wouldn’t say they were announced too early, the announcements are a preview of how this generation is likely to go. 5 Xbox games for every 1 Sony game.

those look great

Don’t mind the game being colourful at all, I’ll be fine as long as the game doesn’t look like The Outer Worlds
