Xbox Game Studios |OT7| Killer News Here!?

Still have it. I had the Cyan one earlier, and have a Yellow one now.

Very likely - given how close to launch we are. 40 days

Agree. It’s first party if MS owns the IP, and second party if they don’t, but if it’s an XBGS published game, it still counts in this thread.

The only thing that doesn’t count is a money hat IMO.

Exclusive categories

First Party: Internal – IP owned and game funded, developed and published by the platform holder. May use a support studio and still be in this category. Examples: Halo Infinite (343i), God of War Ragnarök (Sony Santa Monica), Forza Horizon 5 (Playground), Horizon Forbidden West (Guerrilla Games)

First Party: Contracted – IP owned and game funded and published by the platform holder. Developed by a third party to contract. Examples: MS Flight Simulator (Asobo), Sackboy’s Adventure (Sumo), Ori Will of the Wisps (Moon), Returnal (Housemarque – second party at the time)

Second Party – IP owned and game developed by third party, but game funded and published by platform holder. Examples: These are rare these days, but I think these all fit: Contraband (Avalanche), Death Stranding Director’s Cut (Kojima Productions), Sunset Overdrive (Insomniac), Detroit Become Human (Quantic Dream)

Money Hat – A third party developed, funded and published game, where the platform holder has paid a sum of money to keep off competing console/s for an agreed period of time. Examples: The Ascent (Neon Giant/Curve Games), Kena Bridge of Spirits (Ember Labs), The Medium (Bloober/NA Publishing), Forspoken (Luminous/Square Enix)

Klobrille is on a roll.

That’s the intro screen he didn’t make that haha, though it wouldn’t shock me if he did make something cool like that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Fsck - I want to play AoE after looking at that opening screen.

Infinite preview ?

Been watching MCU movies in chronological order the last days and today was The Incredible Hulk, still a great movie. But also the first Iron Man holds up very well.

I truly wish Xbox would just give Marvel a shot, have a studio make a Iron Man game or hey why not Hulk? If a available studio is a problem because XGS has their hands full, and they do…find a independent studio that could do this. Or ask SE nicely if they are willing to let the studio behind Guardians of the Galaxy make a Marvel game for Xbox. With Guardians they have proven that they can do it.

Marvel is open to it I’m sure, I mean they let SE make two Marvel games, it’s not just Sony. But I’m afraid tbis wish won’t come true.

Slightly OP hero like Superman. Captain America is possibly better as a choice.

I hate to respond to this and bring up old arguments, but we’ve had like decades of terrible super hero games.

The existince of Insomniac’s Spiderman and Rocksteady’s Batman does not mean that you can now get any independent studio to come and make the game you want.

Cap could be cool but don’t underestimate how dope Iron Man cojld be. The flying would feel like Anthem and a lot can be said about the game but it nailed the flying and combat.

Been posted already, we think so. Lumu is the name of one of the AI’s.

True. Not just anyone can make one, that’s why the studio of Guardians would be great for it. But is SE willing to do that? Capcom was willing to have DR3 exclusive for Xbox One back then, but that was also their own IP.

Studio is indeed the problem yeah.

If they are willing to explore issues like ptsd and trauma as was done in Iron Man 3, then I think that would be good.

Not worried about game mechanics. There are good studios who can do that.

Super keen for Halo Infinite previews.

Also a quick shout-out to Windows phone. Absolutely loved them and stuck with them 4 years. The tiles interface was beautiful and also loved how simple the OS is. It is a shame that the APP situation never improved or changed and killed the phone pretty much.

I’m afraid they aren’t really open. Some people mentioned that a Sony ex (forgot his name) is now one of higher-ups at Disney. I’m not saying that Sony is doing dirty here. But I can see how “easy” of them to lock certain Marvel (Spiderman and now Wolverin) gaming IPs behind the the PS brand.

Hi everyone,

I think that’s it’s not in very good for Xbox (in a financial point of view), and that’s also the reason that’s Warner studios would not be acquired without the licence in it.
For Xbox, the GamePass is the key, but if you do development with external licence, you will have to pay for the use of those licence. There you have two options : - Pay a one time fee for the use or - Pay a % on your income

If you pay one time, it’s means that you will have to pay at the beginning of the development, use one of your studio, and pray for a return of profit ( like a standard game development but adding a extra development cost )

If you pay a %, you will have to negotiate for the gamepass, because it’s means less game sold and the licence owner will not be happy, so extra cost for gamepass integration or extracost per user on the gamepass.

And in the same time, you will not develop your own licence (because the studio will be doing something else).

I agree that’s it’s good free marketing, but on long term, it’s not the best things to do I think. (And Sony, doesn’t has the same issues, cause the deal for Spiderman right may have negociated in a package when Marvel and Sony negociate for Spiderman on MCU)

Sony has leverage on Marvel for sure.
