Xbox Game Studios |OT6| But wait, there's MORE....studios

Morrowind came out in 2002 I would say it would look vastly different today if they remade it and I dont get why the length of the game matters

I would imagine a remake of previous fallouts or elder scrolls might be really huge projects that might take years to develop, if they can make a second or third team within bgs to do new fallout and another studio for remakes, its probably best case scenario right?

I would rather thme do CV as well cause I feel RE4 still plays good but either way I am happy haha

In general it would be smart for Microsoft to buy or make a remake/remaster studio that can work on any IP to setup for another studio to bring in a brand new game into that franchise.

Example this remake/remaster studio remasters all the Viva Pinata games while Studio Y is making a brand new game in the Viva Pinata IP. Then the remake/remaster studio moves onto another IP like Banjo.

Isn’t what you’re defining something closer to a remaster? If you look at remakes like RE and FF they contain modernized systems, they are effectively what those games would be if they were created for the first time today.

You get to reuse characters, story, general design. Everything needs to be fleshed out and rebuilt according to todays standards.

The problem is that I feel like remakes are usually work better with third person games, rather than first person. For the first person games, full blown reboots are better. And in case of BGS games it would require humongous effort to remake the old games.

Personally, I think MS should remaster early japanese content that the platform lacks right now. We have too much first person games anyway. (I like RPGs though).

For stuff like Morrowind and Oblivion? They would have to remake systems and use new assets for like everything. Its not just a fresh coat of paint and set the Fps to 60. A remaster of those games is not enough and for that just run it off backwards comp as they are right now.

Indeed. Now imagine remaking Daggerfall

Yep. The story and quests are all there as a foundation but other than that you would have to throw out everything else and start from scratch and at that point you are basically building a new AAA game.

I do think Morrowind is a strong candidate for a remake though and about the only one due to its legendary status, but it has badly aged now so a newcomer can’t exactly go into it and expect a great time.

Wait, so you’re telling me they can’t just drag/drop the files from the old engine into the new one? They’d have to do a ton of work, modernize, and take a huge amount of time and resources? Anyway…sarcasm aside (truly don’t mean to offend anyone), these are legendary games. The effort would be huge to remake, less so to remaster, but making them more accessible to a new generation of people isn’t effort wasted in my opinion.

So according to Special Nick on twitter the rumor mill for next week got spoiled and it was that from software is making another exclusive for playstation.

Oblivion has aged badly too system wise and thats even more recent than Morrowind so imagine that.

Yeah, the remaster won’t do it and remake basically means you need to build the game from scratch

Obviously lol. But I still can go back to Oblivion and have a good time, but not Morrowind. At the time, some of the systems felt clunky even back then.

And Wipeout VR coming for PSVR2

Grounded actually has a dedicated community and apparently it’s popular with kids. All of that without the game even hitting 1.0
