If Mikami is getting closer to retiring and Noah is the dream game that he wants to do as his finale, I would think that it would be after Ghostwire Tokyo. Why wait when that game will probably take five years or so and Mikami isn’t getting any younger? So if that’s what he wants to do, it should be started once Ghostwire Tokyo releases on PS5. Keep a small team for updates and the Xbox port while the main team with Mikami starts working on Noah.
Hoping for this to start immediately after Ghostwire Tokyo with John Johanas leading The Evil Within 3!!! Really hoping all this actually happens as I will be one very happy gamer!!!
I don’t disagree I’d like to see the game in production ASAP, but afaik there is no concern around Mikami retiring from the industry altogether.
He already considers himself retired as a Game Director, but he’d come back to work on this opus.
Whether it’s right after Ghostwire or after the game after that, when the time comes, best believe Xbox will move heaven and earth.
I don’t think people realise what cushy position Mikami is in right now. He’s basically in the spot as Fargo. Before the acquisition, he was probablygoing to retire in a couple years. Now, he’s playing with house money and gets to make whatever he wants.
Who knows, it can also be a completely new IP. To be honest I am OK with both outcomes, I’d love a TEW3 (with Kidman as the protagonist!) but I’d welcome any new IP from them.
It’s really good news that they are already working on their next game regardless, Phil has to just park the dollar trucks outside Tango because I have complete trust on Mikami-san and Johanas to deliver a great game.
Also I just realized that if TEW3 becomes a reality MS will be the only platform holder with a AAA horror IP in their 1st party portfolio.
I agree. I would just prefer to see Mikami make his game sooner rather than later to ensure that it’s happening as opposed to waiting and then something happens, and next thing you know, it doesn’t happen. Just have to wait and see what happens.
Get Nightdive to remaster the games on console with gamepad controls + achievements and drop it onto Xbox Live next year as Fallout 1 + 2 25th Anniversary Edition.
