Pretty much my thoughts as well. It is going to be a long time before we see Gears 6, so the franchise is going to get its break regardless.
Halo suffered from it.
Halo suffers from an insuferable fanbase most of all. Halo 5 save for the campaign was a pretty good game.
Last gen we had all together: weak platform, insufferable fanbase and a catastrophic launch for image (not sales) with MCC which tarnished a little the Halo brand. They almost remade it only to save the face and it was the right call.
None of the side stuff was meaningful and doesn’t fit in with what Gears is and should be which is a linear fast paced action packed cover based shooter. The side stuff in Gears 5 didn’t add anything to the game in my opinion.
The horror idea is simply because when you look at Gears, they have so many aspects and elements that would easily fit into a survival horror Gears game.
OH it did add something… padding and an illusion of freedom lol.
Halo has always been a pretty good MP game. Outstanding at times. But the Campaign was a borefest. The worst one by a mile. I never played ODST not sure it had a campaign but it can’t be worse than Halo 5.
Which is why Infinites campaign has to Deliver in a big way. Theres no excuses.
I really enjoyed the Halo 5 multiplayer. I’m on record though as thinking if it had the Halo 4 maps, it would have been the best multiplayer since Halo 3.
Hey, when I finally get around to posting my article about the Gears rogue-like I’d like to see, you’ll change your tune about RNG loot in a Gears game…
…and my game is cooler than yours…
odd
Well this sums up the internet.
I would like to point out, bloody hell this list was hard because they have so many damn teams and projects its hard to not stack each year with tons lol.

Hindle missed a good oppurtunity earlier to say
“This is just my opinion…and it looks like ya’ll can’t Hindle it”
There is a time for that.
We must protect Hindle at all costs.
Will be surprised if all those games drop in 2023, and will be extremely surprised if Perfect Dark is earlier than 2024.
Regardless, it’s going to be a stacked 2023 if just half those games drop in that year.
My guess is they will spread things out a bit more than that, giving games more polish time or even holding games back where needed to maintain a healthy cadence throughout the generation.
Based on their ‘at least one big AAA per quarter’ strategy, I would guess:
2022
- Grounded 1.0 (Spring)
- Redfall (Summer)
- Forza Motorsport (Fall - continues as ongoing service)
- Starfield (Holiday)
(Plus Deathloop, which isn’t an exclusive but is first party)
2023
- inXile IP (Spring)
- Contraband (Summer)
- Hellblade II (Fall)
- Fable (Holiday)
(Plus Ghostwire Tokyo)
2024
- Compulsion IP (Spring)
- Avowed (Summer)
- Gears 6 (Fall)
- Perfect Dark (Holiday)
2025
- New Zenimax Online IP (Spring)
- Everwild (Summer)
- State of Decay 3 (Fall)
- Elder Scrolls 6 (Holiday)
There are other things to fit in there, like Forza Horizon 6 which will probably be 2024 as well, Coalitions smaller IP, Project MARA, the rumoured IO Interactive ‘Project Dragon’, and the Outer Worlds 2 (which might be 2026), but this looks believable to me. EDIT: Double Fine’s next game might be 2026 as well.
The “Gears must be put to rest” topic again? it seems that a lot of people want this series dead or being transformed into a completely different thing (survival horror or looter shooter? oh god…). It’s weird because it’s pretty clear that after Gears 5 and The Hivebusters The Coalition found their footing within the series and delivered one hell of a package with Gears 5 (also Jack is a really clever and very underappreciated addition to the Gears gameplay that no one talks about). If anything I am even more excited to see what those super talented people at TC come up with in Gears 6 since now they actually have the luxury of a longer development cycle since other studios can fill in the gaps of the console’s line-up.
I’ve said it before but I think a lot of people are gonna be really suprised by Gears 6, these guys know what they are doing.
Gears? Lmbo Yall some clowns, Gears just needs to be far away from the Macus Fenix era and start its own story. I truly think gears 6 will be one of the best in the franchise. And gear 7 will start off a new journey, with a new protagonist in the far away furture.
