They would have to be done really well; Fallout 2 is one of the greatest games from that era, and its myriad of player decisions and flexibility would need to be retained. I just don’t know if it’s worth doing honestly.
Probably need FF7R levels of work, huh
I don’t know if people want to replay that style of fallout in this day and age and Im sure people will bitch about it.
14 years without TES possibly sheesh
I definitely want a brand new Fallout mainline game this gen, don’t make me wait another gen. That would be stupid and kill a lot of the value of the IP.
Yeah, bethesda should massively expand BGS, really give all their IP’s the resources they deserve
Didnt kill TES so surely it wont kill Fallout so dont get this hyperbole of value going down. I reckon it goes up lol.
Boy do I have a Fallout game for yall in the meantime. Depending on what the scope of the Pitt expedition is that should tell yall everything about the immediate future of the fallout franchise.
A single player Fallout 100% should be in the works.
IMO give BGS Austin the franchise and let them make it while Maryland focuses on Starfield and TES.
That’s a whole generation of gamers that don’t experience it, get brought into the fandom and lore. It definitely lowers the value of the IP. Elder Scrolls had ESO and many revamps of Skyrim, one of the best games ever. ESO has a player base of 20+ million regular players so yeah they didn’t hurt the fan base.
Fallout 5 received decent praise and then Fallout 76 was a disaster and wrecked a lot of the positive views in the fanbase. Yes they’ve really turned a corner on Fallout 76 but the perceptions still there by most non hardcore gamers. The need is much higher to deliver a mainline, successful Fallout this gen.
Whole generation of gamers can play Fallout 3, 4, New Vegas and 76 via game pass just fine. It doesnt lower any value of any IP that its dormant particularly cause its still getting supported for like every year since 2015.
Yeah Fallout 76 didnt launch in the greatest state but there was a lot of anti Bethesda sentiment building up ever since fallout 4 (for no reason), the Witcher 3 release (as if the games are any kind of similar) and the fact that the game had multiplayer with the whole singleplayer games are dying bullshit. Suddenly people on the net got convinced BGS sucked.
Idk about SHOULD but its most likely the next Fallout project. Will probably get started in pre prod work after Starfield releases.
I see this completely flew under the radar but it’s kinda big news
Former IGDA executive director Jen MacLean has joined Xbox as the general manager of creator partnerships.
In her new role at Xbox, MacLean explained she will “lead the team responsible for third party business development and account management on the Xbox platforms.”
Her job is going to be getting deals like Asobo making Flight Sim, IOI making that dragon game and Avalanche making Contraband. All this could lead into more studio’s being bought if they manage to partner with more studios and have much better partnerships that help both companies, or at the very least just get Xbox in the good books with a lot of partners that might not have bothered with Xbox in the first place.
They’re a publisher just like XGS. I don’t see why not.
I mean Obsidian is now part of xbox and their other partner is Avalanche which is doing Contraband … for xbox lol.
Maybe they green light Rage 3 or something later this gen.
Ah
Im guessing they will discuss it with Xbox since they carry the bill lol.
Would love a RAGE 3!!!
Id Software does the shooting mechanics while Avalanche handles the open world and car combat which needs to be closer to Mad Max than Rage 2. Gimme, gimme, gimme!!!
Agreed, I’m a massive fan of the first two. The world needs more Mad Maxian games IMO.
I played Rage the year before Rage 2 released and only because Rage 2 was announced. It was real good. Enemies dodging, jumping, etc. was a holy shit moment for me because I had never seen AI enemies react like that before. Rage 2 had great shooting mechanics and the abilities were awesome. Story and characters were good and I was into it but was way too short for an open world game with only 8 missions which was half of Mad Max. Car combat was disappointing as I expected so much more considering I see the car combat in Mad Max to be the best car combat since Twisted Metal 2.
Always wanted a Mad Max 2 but sadly, I don’t see that happening. A Rage 3 though with Mad Max car combat would probably be the closest that I would get to it.
I’d be down with them creating a Fallout studio, on par with 343 or Turn 10. Maybe turn the 76 studio into everything Fallout related. Working on a new singleplayer game alongside 76
A New Vegas sequel set in LA ranks very high amongst my most wanted games
