Xbox Game Studios |OT6| But wait, there's MORE....studios

Like knowing how this game is coming out its baffling they said 2020 :joy: might be a lie bigger than the God of War 2021 difference being that Im convinced xbox of old was willing to launch and then fix.

Welcome to the life of a Free to play title with quarterly paid seasons. There’s a reason why these titles have taken over. Go get on your Xbox look at what dominates the most played charts for shooters. Why would 343 launch their multiplayer free only to essentially abandon it a year or 2 later to make a sequel.

This is the world we live in now. I’ll bet anything we won’t get a successor this gen. To get enough people to buy seasons they will have to make sure there’s a sizable player base for years. To do that they will need lots of content.

Apex, Fortnite and warzone seasons are like an event or small launch. That’s because they have sizable content each season. 343 will do the same. They will have to or they will fall to the side.

Destiny’s situation was completely different. The multiplayer was part of the 60$ package. It was still a traditional game, only with large expansions. Bungie didn’t want to make destiny 2, and they said they don’t plan on a destiny 3 right now. Destiny 2 happened because of activision.

As far a supporting last gen hardware. You just stop at a certain point. When they decide to say the next season/expansion will be current gen only people Will accept it. 2-3 years from now release an expansion/season that comes with improved graphics. Yada yada ‘not possible on old hardware’ move on.

Since the entirety of the multiplayer team will be tied up on seasons. The singleplayer team will need to keep pumping out expansions for gamepass. Those will tie into their seasons still. For example a flood expansion will have a flood style season. These expansions will help to bring back people who weren’t held over by the normal seasons.

I dont doubt they were on target to release in 2020, though it would have been a vastly different enough campaign experience to what we are getting in 2021.

Also, I always take XGS as Xbox’s Games Studios and not strictly Xbox Games Studio, so XGS includes Bethesda and XGS.

You are comparing Halo Infinite to quite different titles here. Its a campaign and F2P multiplayer. I’m not convinced that its equivalent to Destiny 2 either given that’s a whole hub game with PvE, PvP etc all interwoven into the progression and loot system.

I think from what we know its a stretch to say HI will just tie campaign add ons to seasons. I mean Halo is not like Destiny where the campaign is a series of PvE missions loosely themed and built around gear and levels. Its a standalone thing and new campaign content would not just be '‘go and do this strike that already exists in a different order’ or ‘here’s three new missions on the moon’ it would be a complete new thing and almost certainly be far less frequent than D2 updates.

I’m not suggesting they will abandon the 10 year idea BUT the main reason Bungie made D2 aside from Activision pressure was that their engine didn’t allow them to easily move OG Destiny on - so for example to add even basic QoL stuff was a re-write of lots of code - and they knew that as a platform it wouldn’t stand up. We don’t know where HI sits there but my guess is that there will be MP seasons but they might think more about separate full new campaign releases alongside a persistent MP.

Yeah with co-op not working properly and being a Ubisoft like game if those rumors are true lol.

Dying light 2 delayed to February so probably for the best so it does not get annihilated by halo infinite

Halo gameplay in a Ubisoft structure would be really cool. But I doubt it was quite like that…

It was said to have progression locked with side content and tower crap. We are good off that lol.

Not sure the rumour was 100% accurate - though I’d still like that game. Not maybe as a mainline Halo entry though. But a true open world Halo with freedom to do stuff as you please would be amazing. Or at least seems like it would be. That sandbox with no restriction. For me that’s what a Halo game would ultimately be. But like you say it depends on progression and how that’s handled.

Not sure that february is the best time to launch it either. It will go side-by-side with HFW and Saints Row.

February 4th is new date

what where?

Forza Horizon photogrammetry adapted for an action-rpg: my heart could explode.

As soon as halo got put at December 8th I figured this would happen. Halos spot looking real good now.

yeah i can’t wait.

Fable and KOTOR are the games I’ve wanted to return the most, and add to that a fantasy game from Obsidian. That period in 2023-24 will be glorious.
