Xbox Game Studios |OT6| But wait, there's MORE....studios

Because Xbox has to think about the (man-) children.

I can’t remember where I read the rumour… but isn’t Project Cobalt meant to be a high production, “contained” RPG… 20-25 hours of gameplay, rather than the 75 hours of content something like Skyrim contains ?

Redfall in June-September, Forza in October and Starfield in November

I don’t doubt the difficulty – as the assets will have to be recreated for 4k rich-detail textures and substantially high cinematic quality, but it would still be faster than creating a brand new rpg, as you already have the script and the gameplay loop well scripted.

Beth are anyway rumoured to be opening a remake/remaster studio.

75 hours? That’s just the warm up

I’m not convinced about Forza Motorsport, but that would be nice.

BC solves playing the classic game issue.

But the game itself is so old. It is like playing Psychonauts OG version. I played it, because I could, but man, that game is sooo old.

And Morrowwind is a 2002 game, even older than the OG Psychonauts.

For the main story alone that wouldn’t be too bad, but I hope many more hours can be added when it comes to side content.

Imo the promise of Starfield as a game simply far outweighs my hype for any other Bethesda or Obsidian rpg right now. Its a very particular type of Grounded space sci fi that’s been simply absent from the medium for way too goddamn long if not ever and reading about the game and lurking around reddit seeing people already breaking down its lore and possible factions and locations and all that makes it all very exciting. Just hoping it delivers!

The release date of 2023 would make more sense if that rumour was true… high production values, but a more reasonable length narrative.

You would need to recreat every asset, record every line + new ones, do animations from scratch, QA, new UI, new gameplay mechanics, etc. Its not just a converter lol. Again at that point just seeing all the manpower it takes just make a new IP or game.

Also why would Bethesda churn out 2 Elder Scrolls games of this massive scope and effort back to back?

I don’t think team size matters lol.

It took me more than few levels of Quake to realize that NIN or Nine Inch Nails is on the nail-gun ammo box because Trent Reznor did the voice work and music for the game.

At most expect remasters, but full blown remakes are just not possible. I however expect such projects to take shape in the modding community and all I hope from MS and Bethesda to not C&D them like fucking Nintendo and instead just let those communities thrive and contribute their passion for the games.

Yep, true.

Although it could be the second project I’ve seen talks about here? Apparently a much smaller one? But if Grubb meant the steampunk RPG for 2023, then that’s the Sponger one.

Backwards compatibility makes remakes useless, unless people just really want QoL improvements and pretty graphics.

Half the fun of Morrowind was because it literally didn’t hold your hand or give you a quest marker.

You had to make sure that you turned left at the cairn (or what passed for a sub-HD cairn) or your ass was llloooooooosssssttttt.

Like literally what examples do we have of a full blown open world rpg getting remade? I dont think there is any.

Ff7r is just taking the first 3 hours of the game and making them 40 cause god knows why.

From official developers? Can’t think of any.

But modders are doing some great things bringing back some of these older games and modernising them in a lot of ways.

Is ff7r even open world? I haven’t played so no idea but from what I’ve seen I don’t think it can be compared to an elder scrolls or Fallout lol

On the topic of remakes, I’ve always been curious about a Morrowind / Oblivion remaster and if Xbox would make them exclusive. Obviously because they are ‘legacy’, but, full remasters of those games would sell consoles. Especially for people like me who only really got into ES with Skyrim.

What do we think?

  • Yes, they would be exclusive
  • No, they wouldn’t be exclusive
  • I’m not sure

Now what I want?

I want MVG and Night Dive to work on porting more PC Bethesda classics to console.

I’m talking the Bethesda terminator games baby!

The DOS Terminator game, just called The Terminator, is literally a Terminator Immersive Sim.

Open-world Los Angeles where you play as Kyle Reese or The Terminator and search to protect or kill Sarah Conner.

Oh and…
