I can see this being an ongoing friendly debate, now that BGS & Obsidian are both Xbox first-party.

For me, nobody touches Bethesda. I wouldn’t argue with someone who prefers Obsidian though, as they’re a great studio. New Vegas & The Outer Worlds are both top-notch. Can’t wait to see Avowed.

I mean, yeah

As a big WRPG fan, I’m kinda still processing the amount of goodness coming my way from Xbox in the years ahead.

Starfield, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Fable, Avowed, The Outer Worlds, whatever inXile come up with next…

Yeah this is a real must. They have started doing those with SoT and FH5, right? So let’s hope they do them for all the other big upcoming games too. I wonder what BGS is going to do for Starfield, previously they did a deep dive at E3, a trailer here and there, some previews and that was about it before it launched. If they do a nice deep dive of Starfield I personally probably won’t need much more, wanna go in fresh with that as much as I can.

It would also be nice if Xbox just out of the blue, a day before hand announces that they’ll have a demonstration of a certain game, you know, like how out of nowhere Sony had that HFW demo this year, that be nice too.

Considering your typical date predictions, you’re gonna have to wait

Was there not talk of an Xbox 1st party Mandolorian game as well.

An open world bounty hunter game, with randomly generated bounties as side missions for replayability on top of the storyline, would be amazing.

There’s no reason Halo or Gears couldn’t go a similar way as modern Star Wars universe is evolving into new timelines, main characters and plotlines.

Nick said there’s a Mandalorian game in the works but then later clarified he doesn’t know whether it’s first party.

Maybe it’ll be announced next week

I think Sony is doubling-down on Marvel games, which I think leaves the rest of Disney/Lucasfilm open to deals.

Nick said that Xbox and Lucasfilm were talking again/more.

So I really do wonder what’s left on the docket for 2021.

So barring any surprise GP/Day 1 on GP Drops, we kind of have our schedule laid out.

September is indie-month on GamePass, October’s headliners are B4B and AOE4, November is FH5 and December is Halo.

Also while TGS in end of the month, Aaron “Tempering Expectations” Greenburg kind of made it seem like it’s not a big deal.

So barring a hidden Xbox 20th Anniversary Event/X021, it seems like the last place for “big” (Barring breaking news or leaks or something) Xbox news would be the TGAs.

Last year at the TGA we had Perfect Dark amoung other Xbox news, so while it’s not impossible for some big news from there, expecting gameplay demos or other stuff seems out of the question.

So then do I dare say it?

Is Xbox going back into “Prepareing for E3 mode”? We know from past Phil interviews that they start planning and outlining stuff as early as early December, and unless Xbox surprises us with Inside Xbox/State of Xbox Directs, it seems like we’ll be in that December-May “quiet mode” for Xbox.

Do we think there will be an XO event this year?

No

The most we’ll get is a special livestream or something not huge celebrating the 20th anniversary of Xbox. X0’s probably wont return until at least 2022, since they likely want them to be physical events
