Xbox Game Studios |OT5| DOOM posting not allowed. Except for posting about DOOM

I think this deal is not just about “make us the game” but something more. I wonder what criteria are those - unlimited budget? Hollywood actors?

It’s plain in sight… Kojima was in talks with Stadia before for a cloud game

Now they are in talks with Xbox and it’s cloud offering

Whatever this is, seems like won’t be possible on traditional machines and that’s why an aggrement on the cloud technology is required

This is not something console gaming industry can guess about.

Get a hint from Jez, 10 year plans.

Basically Kojima has had idea’s with cloud gaming he wants to explore, previously he was rumored to be in talks with Google. But seems to have reached a deal with Microsoft. He’s gonna use their cloud service to realize the ideas he has, naturally this means whatever game(s) come from this will be “Xbox/PC” exclusive. This is saying that as it stands now he doesn’t have a specific idea or game concept in mind, but wants to use their cloud service.

Leaving Xbox series x blades aside… Imagine this

Games being built at rapid pace because there is no hardware limitations like vram or CPU cores

If cloud gaming can shorten the time of game development then there is huge potential

Imagine GoW or Halo released every year as full games

Does these mean we can start our own carnival of stupid now and when a strange asset flip starts appearing on Gamepass/Xbox Live when can start following the clues back to Kojima?

Only if we can harass a poor indie dev almost to tears on video

Except this time we would be justified to do so and can blame it all on Grubb!

I still don’t understand what cloud-native games are supposed to mean

Would it be like Microsoft Flight Simulator which can be played offline, but for the most of the time being online with access to Microsoft Azure is like necessary? Or would it be a project developed to work the best via cloud, but works also on consoles and PC?

On Xbox it is about THE SHELF

Curious if there’s an Xbox-centric show with that name, The Shelf.

its odd to think but Microsoft is probably a better publisher for kojima. As they microsoft/xbox embraces the let creators create mantra and with gamepass are much more tolerant of unique titles. Grounded alone is proof of that. I couldn’t imagine grounded ever seeing the light of day in the steve balmer, Terry Myerson days.

Update 4 had CPU bottlenecks due to which GPU utilisation was low. In update 5, due to optimisations in CPU performance, the utilisation came down from 100% to 75% on all cores.

For right now:

Microsoft might be the only publisher who actively doesn’t give a SHIT what your game is or how well “it’ll sell” in a traditional marketplace.

They just want a content pipeline. Doesn’t matter if it’s a AAA Single Player RPG or a AA Point-N-Click Adventure Game.

They want it .

The don’t care what Kojima does, because a Kojima game Day 1 in GamePass is the draw.

Basically:

I miss the doomposts from the beginning of the year…

I’ll repeat what I said a few weeks back: Does Geoff Keighley hate his job yet?

I would assume a cloud native game requires cloud to function. A game with a non-cloud mode would still be beholden to the requirements and limitations of a non-cloud game.

Whether that comes as streaming only or if the cloud is supporting the locsl hardware is up in the air.
