Surely they will keep the assets that are already there? Like the characters, creatures and the environment?

Donā€™t know if I like that call.

Hey, @Opatschi , looks like Rare didnā€™t kow what the game was after all

A 2024 release would mark a decade of development for Everwild, which spent many years in experimental prototyping before its eventual announcement in 2019.

According to people familiar with development, Everwildā€™s small team had struggled to define a clear direction for the title, beyond its striking art style and soundtrack.

As of last year, the game was a third-person adventure with god game elements, weā€™re told, though itā€™s unclear how much of this will remain when Everwild eventually reappears.

He is the most experiences on in the studio. This is great news !

Totally agree this is good news!

Not if you like Sea of Thieves.

According to that VGC article, the dude has been one of the most creative leads at Rare going all the way back to Donkey Kong Country. Iā€™m guessing heā€™s a safe pair of hands at the very least.

Sea of Thieves was a result of Microsoft wanting to get the game out because there wasnā€™t much. And even then, SoTā€™s concept is original and not seen in any other games. Moreover, it is still standing high right now.

Whose creative director on Sea of Thieves?

Everwild seems like it is Xboxā€™s Last Guardian, a game that also no doubt was rebooted during development.

This is good news, an experienced pair of hands to make sure the project comes to fruition.

Also hey, at least Grubb gets -1 Fraud points today.

Small spark of hope for Kojima, Persona, and the acquistions.

ā€¦and Sea of Thieves was greenlighted (2014) in times when that d#ck Phil Harrison worked at Xbox and managed European studios (2012ā€“2015). He beloved in multiplayer-only games, live-service-only games, etc. Thatā€™s why Sea of Thieves is that what it is, thatā€™s why Lionhead developed Fable Legends focused on multiplayer and even if they had great ideas for single-player Fable IV, Harrison didnā€™t care what that. Thank god heā€™s gone from Xbox!

At least Sea of Thieves became some kind of success after all.

Haha, silver linings!
