This show will undoubtedly be a fine show, but it’s next year when we really could be getting the E3 of our dreams. I mean sure, we will see Starfield Sunday in some shape or form but the deep dive, Godd Howard showing what the game is all about will be next year June. I think there’s a big chance we’ll see Fable too, there’s Avowed, maybe something from perfect Dark.

I don’t take insiders word as gospel anymore, but Jeff Grubb did say next year would be the big blowout and then in 2023 is when we’ll really start to see results. It’s kinda crazy, the amazing potential of Xbox E3’s in the near future.

It’s what Jeff Grubb said in that usually Xbox likes to show gameplay the year the game is due to come out and since Fable, I believe, is a 2023 game at the earliest then there is a strong chance we do not see it because a CG trailer is not going to cut it.

Fables been in development since 2018, theyre definitely gonna show gameplay in 2022, 4 years later.

And they are also building the team along with the game. It is not like it was a ready made team all set to go from day one. They have still not reached their goal of 200 people as far as I am aware.

As I said last week, don’t hang on every word from ‘insiders’ and just wait and watch the show and make your own judgement instead of already deciding the show will be rubbish.

The amount of bad Xbox shows from the past eight years is a lot less when you look at them objectively and not on some ever-impossible benchmark some of these people expect them to reach.

I have to be honest and say that I cannot remember the last ‘bad’ or forgettable Xbox show. I would guess it was probably E32016/17 or something like that due to Xbox not being in a good spot around that time. But the last couple have actually been at the very least really solid shows and would only disappoint if you went into them expecting an E3 of dreams.

True. I would put Microsoft’s E3 2013 and E3 2014 over Sony’s. Microsoft wins E3 2019 by default since Sony skipped the year. Still have to re-watch Sony’s E3 shows from 2015-2018 and 2020’s State of Play.

Microsoft’s E3 2018 though is my #1 Xbox showcase and #1 overall for last generation. An amazing showcase that gave me a whopping 10 games including multi-platform titles.

I see E3 2021 being better than last year for sure 100% which will make me very happy. And a lot of gameplay!!!

I’m only going to say this once, in here and wherever I need to: the team will not tolerate racist/sexist dog whistles, especially those that denigrate the quality of a game or the team that made it because of “force diversity”. That term and all its ilk are thinly veiled racist statements that ignore that fact that organic diversity IS diversity, as in the world is a hell of a lot more diverse than white dudes and when games have diversity in culture, self-identification, sexual orientation, and beyond it is a reflection of the world we live in and the developers that make these games. Get used to it, and if you can’t, we’ll happily show you the door.

I look at E3 2018 this way now. Phil became “the man” in late 2017 and E3 2018 was the first major showcase with him being fully in charge and it was a grand slam. Great game reveals, excellent opener (Halo Infinite) and closer (Gears 5 was the closer game wise until the Cyberpunk 2077 reveal happened when Phil was saying goodbye which was awesome), some Japanese support, third party reveals with acquisitions and excellent pacing.

At first I was confused what you are referring to because I have been speed reading a lot today, but I have scrolled up and know what you are referring to. Yeah, totally not good and that kind of attitude has no place on this forum and thank you for calling it out.

I do too but I think more people will come to see it as a pivotal conference. It’s one of those ones where hindsight is 20/20. But just touching on the quality of the conference, I have quickly skipped over parts of it again and yes, it was a genuinely good show.

Agreed. I have always look at E3 2018 as the start for Microsoft/Spencer rebuilding what is now the current generation.
