Xbox Game Studios |OT5| DOOM posting not allowed. Except for posting about DOOM

Yeah I’ll be honest that was the last NoClip doc I watched as though Danny said they had full creative control being essentially an extra arm of Marketing by involving a non released game as part of a documentary really rubbed me the wrong way.

But now you mention it the idea they were all hands on Fallout 76 I’m sure runs against the discussion at the time, and I think that documentary too. Not to mention they used every resource on Fallout 76 for it to launch in the state it was in and they never considered delaying seems odd. It was rough day 1.

I still say Pioneer 10 50th Anniversary  02-03-22 for no reason other than perfection!

They need at least another publisher in order to guarantee a regular schedule over the year.

You mean you think his info is wrong? The things he claims he do directly contradict what Howard and team’s been saying. This person who mentioned the NoClip documentary, he’s right, this was indeed said. BGS was a support role for 76, most of them were on Starfield.

I am completely baffled by the relentless negativity in this and other threads on this forum. The future of Xbox has literally never been brighter than it is right now. None of us would have believed a few years ago that by 2021 Xbox would have 23 studios, including freaking Bethesda and ID. Yet, all some of us seem to be capable of is nonstop bitching.

I am far from a Pollyanna. Literally none of my family or friends would consider me to be a blind optimist. Yet even I am wildly optimistic about the future of Xbox.

I am 53 years old. Gaming has been my primary hobby since I saved up my allowance to buy the Atari 2600 in 1977. As far as I can tell there has not been a better time to be a gamer than right now. In my opinion we are at the beginning of the golden age of gaming, and it’s only going to get better from here.

I will not question the motives of those who are relentlessly negative, but I would encourage them to take a step back, look at the big picture, and take off the grey-tinted glasses for a bit. If you can do that you might actually like what you see - for gaming in general and for Xbox specifically.

Yeah - but then people should be talking about Pyschonauts 2 or Grounded or Age or Wolfensteain 3 or FH5. Which they are not.

The discussion is only about Starfield now. And I suspect, even after an acquisition the talk will be mostly about flag-bearing AAA titles only.

The way I see it – all conversations are going to be centred around AAA titles, and despite the criticism that Playstation got for being focused on AAA, that is exactly what this forum is asking for.

As for First-Party, I’m sure we won’t see it but I would love a little bit of gameplay for State of Decay 3. The second is a game that I find myself coming back to weekly… it’s just such a unique game in the zombie games space, and seeing what Undead Labs can achieve is extremely exciting.

Microsoft Rewards had a goal this month to play SoD: Year One, so I fired it up for a couple hours. Still love the game, but from a technical standpoint, the jump in graphics alone for the second game (yes even at release) are pretty impressive considering how little staff they had at the time. With more than double the staff and a bevy of resources/teams available, it’s tantalizing to think what they can do.

They have already said multiple times they’re not done

It’s really $10 a month you don’t need to sub to Ult for all the 1st party games.

I’d be shocked if people at MS aren’t already thinking of 10 steps ahead of what we’re thinking. They’re not dumb they know they need tons of content, BUT that doesn’t mean they need to lower their standards and buy any ol’ studio for “filler” games that people love to tout. All this stuff takes time (I know it sucks) they should’ve started this move soon as they saw the failure of the Xbox One launch but like Jez says, Microsoft is like a huge boat and takes ages for them to move and adapt.

I 100% agree they need MORE and MORE, also I’d like to point out studios will, currently and most likely in future will build multiple teams within studios. MS doesn’t always have to buy a studio to make more games they can create teams within teams like Playground Games.

Microsoft needs to give us dates and windows at E3. That’s crucial to some degree. I wanna know what’s coming 2021/2022 at the very least and I get with covid nothing is set in stone. But no harm happened to Sony when they announced their initial 2021 lineup and now delayed some of the stuff. Arguably Xbox strategy to just be silent was more harmful.

As long as a game has a great showing people will be excited regardless :slightly_smiling_face: don’t worry so much.

I want the stuff that Double Fine Presents was publishing. Gimmie the weird titles, the sillies, the oddball games.

I would not call that stuff filler

There’s seriously never been a brighter time in Xbox history: we’ve got more studios than the publisher has ever had, we’ve got the best and most affordable hardware, Microsoft sees Xbox as a key pillar, and we have an industry-shifting model in Game Pass that actually reduces barriers to gaming when so many are doing the opposite.

So this morning brought some spicy takes, but honestly, not new news or a new take.

As an aside, we’re all eager to see what’s coming next from Xbox first party and XGS so it can get a little frustrating waiting and those frustrations can spill out in the messages, but I think in general this community is very open to discussion and reasonable.

I think Xbox will be able to really double-down on Halo Infinite this E3 and I’m optimistic they’ll have a great showing, with a big release this Fall. I’m just looking forward to it taking up all my free time like Halo 2 and 3 did.

People really abuse the flag system. I get it when some people like me sometimes get personal for no reason but for that??

Starfield shadow drop at E3. Now thats a wild thing nobody will see coming.

Some of those dates are still crazy, especially the 2027 ones…

Yes, the development process info he got wrong and I do not believe Starfield is still “a ways away”. Lots of rumors from trusted sources that say the game might have even been ready last year if Covid wasn’t a reality. I think Fall 2021 was an internal release target if you listen to anyone trustworthy, a small delay to 2022 makes sense if they want extra polish. If Starfield is at E3 it’s not releasing past the first half of 2022 unless they literally just show another teaser.

This is not related to the conversation at hand, but I feel it needed to be said.
